Cold fusion has yet to be achieved. Claiming that it has, but has been covered up, is indeed a conspiracy theory. It's certainly a theory, and I assume you'd argue it's a conspiracy (not been covered up by a long series of fluke accidents). Whether the theory is accurate or bollocks (that one's bollocks) is a separate matter, to deny that it's a conspiracy theory is just silly.

Ok get your google warmed up!

do you even know what cold fusion is or the determining factors?

Commonly referred to as Low Energy Reactor....something. Some acronym that works out as something like LERN....used by modern researchers instead of cold fusion in the field to avoid association with nutjobs, and with the initial thoroughly repudiated claim.

I recently bought a car to do longer errands for larger stuff off of bus routes. It's an older toyota that gets 30 mpg.

For all of the idiots out there who bought suv gas hogs......there ya go.

Happy with what it's doing to your WALLET?

I just don't understand Brain at all. Gas in Canada is close to $5.00 a gallon, but he is all upset that we down here in the states are paying $2.95..He really does need a hobby,

I suppose it is more fun to talk about how corrupt your neighbors are and not so much fun to talk about how your own house needs work.

I know he has family here. Well I know he has said he has family here. However his track record speaks for itself. He starts thread after thread bashing the US, yet never comes back and discusses the actual subject. Now I understand having an opinion about what another country is doing. But brain is obsessed with it. I am pretty sure, if I started thread after thread talking about how awful Canada is and how their people are 100% corrupt, eventually someone would call me on it. I get that he thinks we are all asshats, but after a while I get sick of hearing it and have to answer back.

The only thing that changed that made a real impact is fuel injection so now dummies can get it right because it either works quite well or not at all. No need for someone with that [magic] touch and carb skills anymore to "get it right".
Spoken as a man who has never calibrated a fuel-injected engine. It's not exactly a trade for "dummies".

The "only" thing that changed? Try getting CO emissions being down to 1 gram per mile, NOx down to 0.1 g/mi, HC down to 0.01 g/mi, and keeping them down there for 10 years and 120,000 miles with a carburetor. Ain't going to happen.

well the [Tesla] "magnifying transmitter" has been proven to work.
Yes, it "worked". It created standing waves and transmitted energy without transmission wires.
But its losses were a whole lot more than a transmission line with wires, and it only transmitted energy - it never created it.

Spoken as a Man who has.

I used to be The Master when it came to getting carberated cars to pass emissions. I can tell by the smell if a car is going to pass emissions. I also know why people have to get rolling papers (or something thin paper) when going to buy a car. You put it on the oil filler port and it should stick, because there should be a vacuum, slight, but present.

But what has been elusive is that N2O, and a friend and I really tried on this one car a while back. HC was low, CO was low but it kept failing on N2O. The entire EGR system was chacked thoroughly, and it was going into closed loop. This was a 1987 GM 2.8 liter. We did everything, including putting in a new cat, which actually made it read worse !

The car idles pretty smooth, has power and actually smells right if you know what I mean. Either one of two things are happening. This is a five wire EGR which means it probably has position feedback, and it didn't throw a code for that except when we disconnected it for testing. After cleared it did not recur. If the EGR is working, it is in closed loop and throws no codes there are but a few possibilities the way I see it. One is that buildup in the combustion chmbers has increased the effective compression ratio to the point that the EGR is not enough to quell the nitros. The other possibility is that ther is excessive imbalance in the mixture to the cylinder, and the rich ones satisfy the O2 sensor but the lean ones burn too fast and hard, creating more nitros than the system can handle.

I can understand them wanting to reduce HC, because it is basically soot. Monoxide is transparent in the air, a silent killer, so OK that too. But N2O ? That's laughing gas. And ground based ozone, ever go outside after a thunderstorm ?

You can die of starvation in clean air or you could live in dirty air. Your call.

"HC" is unburned hydrocarbons. "Particulates" are soot. (along with greasy soot, oily soot, greasy oil droplets and other ugly stuff) It appears that they cause Black Lung disease and lung cancer.

Unburned hydrocarbons contribute to photochemical smog, including ground-level ozone, which causes eye irritation, mucous membrane irritation and respiratory distress.

When exposed to moisture, N20 (and NO2, NO3, N2O5 and other oxides of nitrogen, lumped together under the general designation "NOx") form nitric acid, nitrous acid, and other similar acids, which are the main source of acid rain, which kill plants, soil and lakes.

The EPA does not regulate tailpipe emission of ozone.
