Ok, I didn't realise this was your point. I do think there are female fetishists and there is research to back up my assumption—see Deviant Desires: Incredibly Strange Sex by Katherine Gates.

Actually Katherine Gates did a visual map of sexual fetishes which attributes several fetishes as being primarily attributed to women.

That book looks amazing-I'm going to be ordering it as soon as I get home to Bristol :-)

It got mixed reviews, but I do think it definitely has its merits. I've only read excerpts from a friend's copy.

No matter how much I might enjoy punching someone in the balls, if that's all he wants it would get boring fast.

I think that just shows that you're a delicately brought up woman with a natural sense of feminine gentleness, TNS. [;)]

PeonForHer -> RE: Female Fetishists? (4/10/2010 2:09:27 PM)

To recall LP's definition of a fetish:

A sexual fixation on a concept, object, or body part. A person with a fetish feels a compulsive need to use the object in order to obtain sexual gratification, and cannot achieve pleasure without it.

. . . It's that last bit that I've pondering on: the need for a particular 'thing' without which pleasure can't be achieved.

I know this'll stretch the definition of 'fetish' beyond that which most people will tolerate; nonetheless, it's something that has genuinely made me think 'God, why should something so trivial matter so much to me? I so much wish that it didn't'

It's just this: certain facial shapes. One facial shape as opposed to another. Why would I need a certain shape of mouth, nose and eyes on a woman's face for my groin area to wake up?

Is it plausible to talk about fetishised face and body shapes? If it is - then a lot of us do fetishise to a degree that could be harmful. I've met many, many women who I wish I could find physically attractive - so many, in fact, that I've quite often 'regretted my own sense of aesthetics'.

Even if we were to go so far as to include things like facial features, I still wouldn't consider that a fetish for me. That's what hoods are for [:D].

LadyAngelika -> RE: Female Fetishists? (4/10/2010 6:40:00 PM)

It's the "cannot get pleasure without it" bit that is the kicker in all this. I have often orgasmed from having satisfying vanilla sex therefore nothing in the realm of D/s or S&M for me is a fetish.

That said, I'd say I have triggers, strong triggers. Things that almost guarantee that I'll have pleasure if they are present.

As for faces, there is a lot of research on how much face structure plays in sexual attractiveness—there are great references in this Wikipedia entry. I'm assuming that for some people, it is stronger than others.

Or...are they here, but they express their desire for their fetishes in a different way?

I suspect this is a big part of what's going on. It's clear from this thread and others that some of our female regulars have particular kinks that they're strongly drawn to, but they don't seem to feel the need to talk about them constantly. Of course, this is also true of a lot of the men on these forums. It's interesting that the relatively few commenters who seem unable to discuss anything but their fetishes are almost invariably male, though.
