Considering that I currently have pain in any bed with my fibro (does not matter how soft or how hard) I am unable to comment [&o] Currently I don't do good bedtimes (since about 2 years). But wish you good luck in the decision you are going to do [:)]

It would be scary to use a blacklight on the bed spread.  Might be good for a YouTube video...a survey of hotels with ratings for the number of bodily fluids on each bedspread.

Public seating -- is chocked with germs.   I mean if people knew how badly- few would sit on them.

A play partner of mine had the kind that had waves when you sat down, got up, or moved around, and it was so funny cause when we were having sex, and the cat was on the bed sleeping , kitty got so annoyed by the motion of the bed kitty hopped down immediately in disgust at being disrupted.

Personally I would go with a waterbed (been sleeping on mine for 25 yrs). Same principals....NO SPRINGS with a contour fit and no pressure points. Always the same temperature unless you change it (and it takes at least 24 hours to change). No big waves if you get a waveless or semi-waveless.

It was pumped up to mostly full, and even when it deflated enough naturally that it wasn't firmish any more then that was even worse.

The hotel Daddy and I went to last year had a sleep number bed and I hated it. It was like a glorified air mattress, When Daddy sat down the entire bed lurched up, when he got out of bed, the entire bed lurched down. Plus the entire bed was just poor quality it felt like. Also when I got up out of bed, the head board would buck a bit and when you sat down before adjusting it, you felt the hard bottom. And the lurching part, that was even after pumping it up to suit us both. Course that could of been a one time thing, special to that particular bed, or it could of been cause both of us are big people,

I attempted to use a Sleep Number bed at a different Residence Inn, but it was busted; you couldn't adjust it.  I've seen a lot of complaints about their high failure rate.

I think there are two or three problems here that caused your discomfort.

First of all you inflated it too much. There is little difference between a hard air mattress and hard concrete: they are both hard. In my - then 84 kilogramme weight / experience, an air mattress sleeps best when one hovers half an inch above the bed or floor.

In your case when it was not inflated to full capacity, two problems may have occurred: your female curves and possibly your heavy weight. I suspect that one air mattress could not accomodate either. If you ever try out another air mattress, then please consider to put two or three of them on top of each other. (That will possibly require a box or one r two walls to prevent the air mattresses to slide off from each other.)

King size beds rock but I don't have room for one here. We have a place here in Atlanta called The Original Mattress Factory. I have bought my last three mattresses/mattress sets there. None of that fancy memory foam sleep number nonsense. Great traditional mattresses at a great price.

I sleep on a firm pillow top mattress. Pillow top on both sides so you can flip it. And I put an eggcrate mattress pad on top. This way it's soft for the first couple of inches but with proper back support. I replace the pad yearly as that degrades fairly quickly.

No way!

I never seen a both sides pillow mattress.

Both myself and another family member have sleep number beds. I have had mine for several years or so and being a life long insomiac(sp?) I can say I have never slept better. Mine is an older mondle so it doen't have the whatever they did to regulate tempature, so I get really hot sometimes but a good cover makes it better. Mostly when my hips hurt I set it softer and when it's my back I set it higher. I have had to replace the air pump 3 times it was as simple as a call and within 48 hours it was replaced no fuss at all.
Now I have a buddy who is much larger than I am and she hated the sleep number, just didn't work for her at all. Her Mfoam matress was very exspesive my sleep number cost me about 600 bucks but I built my own foundation.

I don't like memory foam, I bought one recently and got rid of it quickly! I like to sleep when it's cold, look for cold spots on the bed, etc, but memory foam just absorbs heat like nobody's business.

That and I find that if you sleep on any position other than your back, it's not quite as comfortable.

A personal suggestion, if you're willing to drop a few grand on a top of the line memory foam mattress, then take the money, and go for a top of the line spring mattress. Besides, I find those are better for sex, anyway.
