I agree with you; some of the answers are disputable. I answered 20 correctly but there were three others I answered incorrectly that, based upon my experience, could have been correct:

- the carousel: The carousels I've seen can run in either direction so there is no right or wrong. Some of the animals/carts/etc face one direction and some fact the other. I don't think I've ever seen a carousel that only went in one direction.

- draining water: Maybe there's some unknown force at work or perhaps I'm living close enough to the equator to screw up the results, but water in this house drains in the motion opposite of that of the quiz's answer.

- direction of fan blades: I've always had fans that rotate in both directions. Whether they are ceiling, desk, window, and box fans, there's a switch to change the direction of the airflow as per needs at the time. Perhaps a change in the wording of the question is needed to clarify its intent.

Carousels turn counter-clockwise, Merry-Go-Rounds turn clockwise.

It is a myth that water swirls in different directions north and south of the equator.

Just sayin..

What are you muffling about, Petite Syrah girl? Quack.

I got 23, but I guessed at the carousel and Sneezy/dopey ones. I had just read about the left-hand buttons in a Robert Jordan fantasy book (the servants dressed the Ladies of the manor, so the buttons were mirror-image). I was staring at a Venetian blind.
Serendipity indeed played its part.

16, but in my defence I don't live with you people-we have no Campbell's soup, no standardised hotdog/matchbox package size, and no stars and stripes....

I had no freakin clue what side of a shirt the buttons were on

....  i had 4 Australian natives in my Southern California bathroom flushing the toilet for 10 min straight to see that ....  i tried to tell them that it depends on which way the new water is introduced from and all sorts of other plumbing things.... oh well *sigh

It is a myth that water swirls in different directions north and south of the equator.

Well, while the Coriolis force is fictitious, the effect is real enough. On a sufficiently large scale it does actually have an impact on fluid flow. The direction of rotation of hurricanes is an example. On the scale of a sink or toilet though, the effect is negligible - so other factors like drain shape will pretty much exclusively dominate a vortex's direction.

Coupled with the issues with reference frames, I'm guessing the quiz's author isn't into physics...
