Many songs make me want to turn up the volume but first to mind, Holst - planet suite: Mars

Emerson, Lake and Powell (Palmer was gone for that album) did a version of that on the album with the song "Touch and Go" on it. It is very good and I believe Holst would approve. I saw them do that in concert also... it was awesome.

Since reading this thread, i made myself a playlist of tunes to play LOUD!
I'd tell you what's on it, except it has a run time of 4.5 hours...obviously I like lots of music LOUD.

Hmmmm, do you suppose that's why I have a hard time hearing people when they talk?

Amongst what my ears have heard............
once stood in an open place where there was not a sound, volume was up, the silence was deafening.
amazing to find such a place in nature and stand there and not hear a damn thing eccept your own heartbeat and breathing.

As a working musician, I get to hear a great deal of the music at very loud volumes pretty much every weekend, as I'm lucky enough to get to play the tunes I love...

My personal fav's that I get to play are things like
Voodoo Chile &  Manic Depression (Hendrix),
Black Dog, What Is and What Should Never Be & Ocean (Led Zepp),
Cold Shot (SRV)..I do admit I wish we could play a bit more blues then we do as I love the blues (and I know Cold Shot really isn't a blues tune.. although its a shuffle).

Although I play mostly classic hard rock, I listen to much else.  My favorite things to hear very loud are..    Stravinsky's Firebird (especially the end, always cheers me up).. Ravel's Quartet (yeah I play a string quartet very loud..LOL.. it was the only quartet he wrote, I figure it desearves it).... Anything involving Miles, Coltrane or John McLaughlin..
The tune I probably play pretty much at MSG levels is Cream doing Crossroads.

My first post.. yippe..lol

Right now it's the Prom Kings.

As for speaker blasting music . . . it would have to be Disturbed every time.  Although, I pretty much keep the speakers turned up for most of my music.
