I kinda like the delayed reaction of the "Awaiting Approval".

Don't you?

Bombers are just like everybody. They just want to be heard and have a blast.

I think it was actually UNAbomber ( Theodore Kaczynski).  The name was derived from the United Airlines he targeted. Freedom fighter does not fit under your definition (it is much wider and does not necessarily involve violent acts).

vincentML -> RE: Uni Bomber / Freedom Fighter / Suicide Bomber (4/12/2010 1:53:28 PM)

Also, one who bombs could be a comedian who delivers unfunny jokes.

Moonhead -> RE: Uni Bomber / Freedom Fighter / Suicide Bomber (4/12/2010 2:55:04 PM)

Or a band who really suck.
I saw Nosferatu bomb once. Terrible bunch of herberts.

vincentML -> RE: Uni Bomber / Freedom Fighter / Suicide Bomber (4/12/2010 3:41:05 PM)

LOL! Had to search my Brit slang dictionary to learn that "herberts" are "dull, objectional persons." wonder what the origin was....???

We speak the same language with different words. [:D]

Moonhead -> RE: Uni Bomber / Freedom Fighter / Suicide Bomber (4/12/2010 3:49:40 PM)

It's a term that's out of fashion now. Sorry, I should have thought that if everybody over here had been using the word "chav" instead for the last ten years, that'd make no sense at all to an American.
(Sadly, I don't have an etymological dictionary with herbert in it it, so I have no idea what the origin of that one is.)

vincentML -> RE: Uni Bomber / Freedom Fighter / Suicide Bomber (4/12/2010 3:52:35 PM)

No problem, Moon.

Not often anything makes sense on these Boards.

Now, I will go look up "chav"

Keeps me busy. [:D]

Got it! Really like this one:

...chav * Noun. A person, usually of poorly educated, working class origin, who dresses casually in designer sportswear and vulgar jewellery. Chavs are generally viewed as an ignorant under-class with a propensity for criminal or...

Moonhead -> RE: Uni Bomber / Freedom Fighter / Suicide Bomber (4/12/2010 4:19:08 PM)

Yep, that's them.
I heard a comedian on the radio saying that chav was an acronym for "council housed and violent". Bit meanspirited, but most of them do seem to be from sink estates.

He was somewhat of a modern day ludite.  He did not attack United Airlines the UNA comes from his attacks against University professors and some Airlines.
