Can someone direct me to a source of legalities for a professional dominatrix in Florida?

Things like what one can do and cannot do.

You may be able go dig something up on findlaw.com
Your best bet would probably be to find someone in your area of the state and ask, seeing as local laws may create restrictions or problems not addressed in state law.

Give that link a look over then talk to a lawyer or someone, it seems that what laws are enacted, when and where are rather subjective.

You need to speak to a lawyer in your town. Because the town rulings may well be more restrictive than the state ones. State laws could be no closer to a school than 600 feet, towns could not permit adult businesses inside the village envelope, only in the wider township.

Considering the type of business that you want to start you need to seek professional opinions from a lawyer, an accountant (taxes) and an insurance agent.  You will have to carry insurance in case of personal injury to one of your clients, or imagined injury (not every sub/slave who comes to you will be stable and there is the possibility that you will have someone make false accusations).  My suggestion, lawyer first.  Also if you start your business as an Corporation instead of a Personal Business I believe that only your business can be sued for "Malpractice" and not you.  That's important because your insurance will pay out to your business but not you personally.  If you were to be sued personally you could loose everything.

The other option is to stay totally under the radar (obviously not the ideal choice) but that will make it hard to get clients and will make you a target for the police and the IRS.

Hello from Florida! I recently went through setting up a small retail business myself. Florida is a bit odd when it comes to rulings and laws. Each county has its own rules on top of state ones. For the state you will need to register as a fictitious name, a Limited Liability Corporation, or a corporation. Since you will be doing something a bit risky I would recommend setting up as a LLC. That way if something goes wrong a customer can not sue you personally and take your house/car/savings/etc... You will also need to register to collect state taxes, and learn about county sur tax rates. Nationally you will want to register and get an EIN, which is free. I suggest that you go to these websites and look up local business laws. As far as I know you won't need any liscenses to operate other than registering your name or corporation status. There might be zoning laws, however. I would pay special attention to those. Make sure that any advertisements you make emphasize that there will not be any sexual intercourse.

I recommend that you find a women's business center. They often have legal, tax, and acconting experts who volunteer their time for free. These centers also have free or cheap classes for learning about accounting, setting up a website, etc... They're a valuable resource and can answer any question you have, or help look it up if they don't know.
