4 chickens is abusive. Chickens are herd animals. They need a larger flock to be part of.
Hell, you can't buy the chicks at less than half a dozen. This is a good way to claim to be allowing something while making it impossible.

But free range eggs are worth it. Me? I buy them from the farm down the street. Lots of people here keep chickens and sell the eggs.

You don't say. You mean big brother is going to allow people do to something for their self suvival on their own ? How fucking benevolent of them, kiss their feet.

This freedom shit might catch on, they might even let you grow tomatoes or radishes, all sort of "approved" things might be eventually allowed. But I suppose you'll still need a license for a chicken.

I'll have anything I goddamn well please on my property, and if they come and say anything about it they get the usual response "You, Sir are trespassing, if you leave now I won't kill you". I'll have a moose back there if I feel like it.

Has anyone ever eaten moose meat ? What does it taste like ? It's probably tough if you don't cook it right, are there any special instructions for cooking moose meat ?

Moose is beeflike. But very lean like venison so you need to stew it or marinade the steaks. But you couldn't keep one in your backyard unless it was wounded. They take a huge amount of territory to range through to get enough to eat. The damn things weigh something between 1,000 and 2,000 pounds.

So previously you were actually forbidden from keeping chickens? Christ....poultry:banned in Canada, I guess.

Oh, and....not counting the time you spend on them the eggs are worth more than the feed aye.

Keeping farm animals in urban settings is illegal in lots of places.

Allowing it is nice but the Vancouver city council clearly doesn't know what they're doing. 4 hens is too few to have a viable social group. Not allowing roosters means no sustainability. Buying chicks isn't a huge expense but it will add up as will requiring the chickens not be slaughtered on site. But if you go through more than a dozen eggs a week and have the time and space required more power to you.

I've had chickens. They were not worth the hassle.
