CarrieO -> Switch Groups (4/13/2010 4:11:24 PM)

I've been to munches/groups that are geared for dominant women.  I was part of a discussion group, many moons ago, that was for submissive women.  I've been to munches that were open to all orientations/labels.  What I've not seen is a group that was specifically for switches.

Would this be something other people who identify as switchy be interested in?  Does anyone have any experience with such a group?

I have never heard of a switch group, at least not in the UK.
Yes I would certainly be interested but seeing as though most switches hide in the closet, I somehow doubt it would be very popular.
Are you thinking of starting one? If you do I would be very interested to know if it works.

This would probably be the main reason not to start such a group....but, it could also be one of the reasons to start one.  I agree, most people don't want to admit they have any switch tendencies, but if the opportunity was there and.....who knows.

I did find TESS in NYC mentions they have a group but I see no sign of it on their calendar of events/groups/activities.  I'll be checking on it even though NYC on a Tuesday evening (which is when they say various groups usually meet) would be beyond impractical for me because of my work schedule.

I'm curious how one would go about starting such a group...what it would entail.

Any suggestions from anyone with experience in this would be helpful.

There is a fairly new switch group in my local area (I think they've been around for 3 or 4 months). I haven't had a chance to attend yet, and haven't really been active in the public scene except when my Master and/or my playpartner were planning to be there as well.

Switching is so personal I don't think there's really one right way to do it, or even a right way to think about it.  I'm submissive in body, mind, and spirit to my dom, but to my pet, I'm extremely dominant mentally and I utterly control his body.  I know people who are only able to switch certain ways like that; a friend of mine can only be submissive to men, and only dominant with women.  It's so different depending on who you talk to, there isn't a good way to have any kind of guide for it.

I suppose the closest you can get is a discussion such as these forums, where everyone can speak simultaneously and share every opinion they have and you have a wide range of experiences to apeal to.

I think it all depends on where you are at and the group you belong to. My Master and I often comment on how our main group is about 85% switch, with very few being on one end or the other of the D/s scale. We are kind of the odd couple :)
