O'Reilly lies to Coburn: 'Nobody's ever said' at Fox you'll go to jail if you don't buy health insurance. Oh yes they have.http://crooksandliars.com/david-neiwert/oreilly-lies-coburn-nobodys-ever-sai

What's makes this so sad is their audience.  They believe everything that they're told.

Fellow -> RE: Bill O reilly lying thru his teeth...again (4/14/2010 11:50:46 AM)

This is politics in an attempt to dilute the substance. Some journalists were caught on exaggerating in order to make a point. Big deal? Debt does not put you in jail in the USA. However, very bad things can happen (and will happen) to you: your wages can be garnished, your bank account used to cover the debt, your property sold etc... . In case you do not have any money, your wife can be made liable for your debt.

They didn't exaggerate to make a point, they lied, plain and simple,, and then lied about the original lies.

Lying = exageration in your world?
What do you call murder over there?

Even at its best, wanton exaggeration portrayed as fact cannot make any sort of point whatsoever. burn down the poorhouses? have we really come that far in history?

I theory one can go to jail as a result of not paying health insurance. The charge could be not following court order for instance. People are in jail for not paying child support.

mnottertail -> RE: Bill O reilly lying thru his teeth...again (4/14/2010 3:56:37 PM)

In theory; you could stab yourself in the fuckin tonsils with a fork, while gobbling your mashed potatoes and gravy, and bleed to death. And it don't stop anyone from eating.

That is a theory, not a disingenuous construction. I cannot concede you the point.

In theory (as you would have it) people could freely serial murder without going to prison after having been proved guilty. It is not a point someone should argue to make a point.

Ron here is a fine example of that logic for you.

The Mrs. family is far right wing religious zealots.  One of them quite often quotes right wing blogs that at best traffic in exaggeration and things taken out of context.  At worst many times they just use twisted lies to make their point.  Most of the time it takes less than two minutes to show these "truths" for what they are.

One day they posted something from one of these blogs that was 3 years old, on another topic, and edited to make it fit what their point was.  They were trying to pass it off as just having been said about the topic they were presenting.  When this fact was pointed out the answer I received was, "It may have been taken out of context and spoken 3 years ago on another topic, but it still proves the point".

How can you have an actual dialog with people who will still insist that it doesn't matter if something was fabricated it still proves their point.

Could you not theoretically go to jail for not paying your co-pay with the current system?

The question mark indicates you do not know.  So your point is that you do not feel this is a serious discussion.
I am sorry to have bothered you.

Yes. In case you are sued for the amount and the judge determines you have resources and  there is no reasonable excuse not to pay. You will be ordered to pay, further refusal can lead to incarceration.  For example, in Texas a woman was jailed for using medical services under a false name. The charge was: "the theft of service".

So it would appear that your point is that on the one hand it is a normal course of business but on the other hand if you can find a way to slam the president no matter how lame or left handed it is you will go for it.
Thank you for clearing that up for me.
