I don't have any kids and don't want any for quite some time, but I was thinking when I did, I'd like to try the method of potty training, where you use observance and when you notice the baby is giving signs of needing to go, you take them to the potty. It's supposed to increase the bond between parents,  and also eliminate the need for diapers.

I also know that I'd love to teach my kids that fruits are a wonderful dessert,  and to have them prefer those, as opposed to sugary processed cakes and other complete junk . I think I may want to check out Charter schools or homeschooling if I ever have a child, though the homeschooling thing wuld have to be done through an association if they had them, where other people did the teaching, since I'm not qualified to teach a lot of the subjects myself, nor would I have the patience to do so lol.

For the most part, much is trial and error and eventually finding a method which is suitable for the child and the parents. The one thing about offspring is they do learn a lot of traits and habits from the parent's example. Though I have no offspring of my own, I am going by  what I've observed from others raising offspring and chances are my opinion could be disputed by people who have raised offspring.

Whatever you do make sure you smack them when they step out of line.  There's far too many unsmacked little shits running around today, don't add to the problem  :)

It wont go as planned.  My sister has 2 now.

One can plan and plan- but the personality of the kid could be sky or verbose.   I think human interaction is important.

Just love and hug them lots.  And remember that they base their behaviour on yours, including when you shout at them and smack them.

Although homeschooling sounds nice, most kids actually benefit more from the social aspect of going to school.  Your kids are going to want junk even if they do like fruits and veg, and as for potty training techniques, it's nice to have an idea of what you want to do but when the time comes you will just do what works for your kid.

unless you can watch the kid 24 hours a day, I would seriously suggest Fabreeze by the case.

....I -- must have high blood pressure. The terrible 2s- seem to never end.    That is even when I am randomly around.

This is a 24 hour a day job- no days off- no excuses.

Yeah, that's kind of how it is with everything, you can plan and plan and plan, and have the best idea's ever, and not have it turn out that way:) As far as wanting junk, sure,  but when they're little and still get all their food from  their parents or those caring for them, it'd be so easy to keep sweets away from them providing some caregiver or well meaning other person aint slipping them non lol.

He'd like us to be, but that;s not gonna be for a good long while:) I do however like having plans and thoughts about how  I'd like things to go if we ever do get a little bundle on the way.

Yeah you'd certainly have to have an accident friendly house, even if you could watch them 24 hours a day.

I do hope you are joking. Smacking a child isn't the only way to keep them inline and to keep them from growing up to be "littleshits"

Of course it's a 24 hour job no days off, ok well there are if you got someone to baby sit and was having time away, but the jobbyness of it all  if you will, is higher if you're always watching to make sure to get someone to the potty before having an accident, or cleaning up the accident, should you miss the gotta potty signal and are to late. It;s a full time job anyway, but when you add more mess to the equation it's a bigger job than before lol.

Perfect the "Mom Look".  I can still jolt my two 20-somethings from across the room.

The grandkid is tougher, though.  Must be a female thing, lol.
