Status: offline 		FTA: "This afternoon a local radio talk show host reported that he had been in contact with a member of the military. This military source stated that the armed forces have been alerted to the strong possibility that civil unrest may occur in the United States this summer, prior to the midterm elections of 2010."
 
Maybe they do not want to tell non-millitary persons potential troop movements.
 
In this case this it’s supposed to be a secret operation to protect the continuity of the country if a fringe group of psychos try to blow something up.
 
 
Sorry this is confusing but I did not expect the article to disappear but I found some of it below when I googled.

Several bloggers today have pointed to this obviously disturbing article from Army Times, which announces that "beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the [1st Brigade Combat Team of the 3rd Infantry Division] will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North" -- "the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities."

Status: offline 		No, you must first go through the time machine. These articles are 2 years old. I somehow fail to recall martial law being declared in 2008, so apparently there's not much to worry about.

I worked in emergency planning for a stint.

The govt has contingency plans for EVERYTHING.   They even hold public comment periods... but no one shows up.

Something to keep in mind.

Status: offline 		First I'd like to say that from the title I was certain that this was going to be a pahunkboy thread. I'm not sure if that means I owe an apology to pahunk or to Brain or perhaps just a reminder that while people may be perdictable, they are never one hundred percent perdictable.

Now, if the thread was titled, "Republicans sneek into people's houses at night looking for puppies to kick," then I'd know it was from Brain.

As for the topic on hand, this kind of paranoia is nothing new in politics. Whenever one side is in power, the looney fringe of the other side comes out of the woodwork to spout their conspiricy theories. It's all nuts and never true.

Perhaps they will get lucky one day and chance upon some nefarious scheme for real (a broken clock...) but I'll worry about that when the time comes.
