I am looking for advice on my first dungeon. I am not interested in using my home for safety and privacy issues and I want to know how do avoid pitfalls if you get a rental property from someone else?

The first thing you need to do is give people some information. Where are you located, city, state/providence, country. The reason is because laws vary in every locality. Because of this, the advice you get will be different.

In Nevada, for example, you have to operate certain services out of a commercial area with certain building codes and then you're well within the law. In Michigan, the safest place to operate out of is Wayne County because they have better things to than pin down a Pro Domme; as opposed to Oakland County or Lenawee County.

So enlighten us on some details and I'm sure someone will be able to give you some specifics.

Check with your local club. I know that the one local to me will let you rent out for private parties and such. Maybe check out your own area and get to know some of the people there, perhaps they may have a space for rent as well, you never know.

Thanks. I am looking for a place in Orlando, Florida.

Try checking with The Woodshed. They can tell You and advise You in all can kind of fun ways when it comes to designing a dungeon.

And.... Lee beats me to it.

The woodshed is a great place to rent or hang out at. Orlando does have it's ordinances and if you're looking to build your own dungeon, speaking to the organizers at Woodshed would likely give you some insight on how you might go about these things so long as you weren't presenting competition and only seeking to use your own space as a professional outlet (proDomme work) or a personal one (very small, private parties or personal use).

Note: Lee has no sense on Friday, April 16th, 2010. Things of such importance are worth note. :-)

Talk to a lawyer.

Seriously.

I have already retained an attorney. I know the risks. I would not dream of creating competition for those who serve such a noble purpose. If anything I would like to see them flourish. But from financial point of view. Having my own private dungeon would leave me with a higher profit margin. So I am leaning toward fetish friendly landlords. The last thing I want is for someone to freak-out if they see the cages.[;)]
