This video is very funny. There is a payoff if you watch to the end with the sound up a little.

That payoff is where we get to the question that put this link here, instead of in humor;

Do you test people somehow before you let them into your life?

It's showing a gun shooting video. Is this the correct link?

No idea what the video has to do with the question but no I don't test people before allowing them in my life or at any other time. It's just too much work. I either like you or I don't...cut and dry.

I have no clue about the video, but England's Richard Branson has a phenomenal sense of humor.

The link is correct, Des.

OK. Here is my take on what we are seeing. At first glance, I thought it was just a bunch of idiots paying good money (577 T-rex ammo goes for upwards of $15 a round, custom built rifles that can fire it start at more than $4,000) to hurt themselves in the basement of a gun shop, but the clothing, accents, and set-up of the firing station don't match that interpretation.

I think this video compilation is from the private range of some disgustingly wealthy oil sheik who likes to invite guests to fire his elephant gun so he can watch. That would make the collection of middle-aged caucasians in casual American dress Texas millionaires who probably aren't thrilled to see themselves looking so stupid on YouTube. Some of the reactions are quite telling (I loved the guy in robes who cowers with his hands up after dropping the rifle).

I could be wrong, of course, but if I'm not, then the last guy on the video closed whatever deal he was looking to make.

To answer my own question, yes, I do "test" aquaintances along the way to becoming friends. Nothing this elaborate, but if their sense of humor doesn't reveal itself organically, I will go looking for it.

I suppose I do.

Sir says I push people away. I’m just checking to see if they will accept me for me, and still stick around.

I let people in my life that I feel some affection and interest in. If they act like a dumb ass after that, well, they are not so in my life after all. Sometimes I want people in my life but they dont really want to be in mine so I gots to let it go but it makes me sad.

I dont know if I test people but I do read the signs and gauge responses or lack thereof as a barometer to suss out where things is at.

DesFIP -> RE: Billionaire with a sense of humor (4/17/2010 10:47:40 AM)

I had the sound up but the music covered up all the conversation so I still don't get it.
And I kept waiting for one of the older guys to have a heart attack from the kick of that thing.

As far as testing friends? Nope.

Him? Hell yeah. I needed to know he was who he said he was if I was going to trust him. Have known too many people who believe stuff about themselves that isn't true.

My experience is that a sense of humor is never more important than when one is penniless.

I'm missing something here....you're trying to make a rather specific point.  There's a guy (or several guys) who have to deal with recoil.

A gun...they shoot it...it recoils.

It recoils.

And?
