Well are you? Since Ive found others in the lifestyle Ive been having the time of my life. But so many in the life seem to always ALWAYS be dark and depressed. Why? If your a Dom and your getting your way whats not to be happy about? If your a submissive and your serving then why aren't you happy? Ive noticed at social functions most seem very happy but wow some of the online profiles.......... . ..............................Fantasymaker

Yes I am having a lot of fun. However, I would not attribute all my fun to WIITWD. This is only a portion of my life, actually it is weaved into my life, and I keep it very much in perspective. I'm having fun because I'm living life and being true to my true nature. - LA

OP - do you seriously think that all of a sub's happiness and contentment and fun comes solely from serving? For people with complex natures, this is simply not the case.

I am happy because I am happy. The idea that it should be tied to serving is abhorrent to me. Even when I am depressed and sad there is always an underlying happy person in there. And if I was in a relationship (which btw I do not regard as service!), I would be happy because I felt secure within that relationship. Not because I felt the need to serve. :) All life is some sort of service imo

LOL It never occureed to me to bring up every part of life I was just thinking of the Bdsm part of it since thats what this site is about. But yes I would think that with serving the right Dom it would Increase the pleasure of every part of life. But I expect a lot out of anyone that calls themself Dom

Hmm, I assumed he specifically meant to ask if people were enjoying their D/s and BDSM-oriented relationships. It seems like a lot of submissives and bottoms are in relationships where they are hesitant to ask for what they want for fear of being accused of topping from the bottom. A lot of submissives and dominants are uncomfortable about having their limits pushed/nudged against by their partners, and seem to get defensive. Other people on both sides of things are unhappy because their libidos and play inclinations are a bit out of synch, so they can't play as often or as hard as they'd like.

Some days I enjoy it more than others. Tiptoeing around him while he did his taxes, again at the last minute, being snapped at because of his stress is no fun. Now that it's over and he's recovering, and happy at the amount he's getting back, I expect things to be better. But I can't separate bdsm from my life. We don't just meet to play, we live together. So if we're playing which is fun, or deciding whether to get the washer fixed or replace it, it's our life. (He would decide on the specs, I would choose the color and size of wash load.)

Yes, and I don't always need to be with someone else to have fun or be happy. I don't seek my happiness from other people, but prefer to make them happy through being with me.

I couldn't say I was completely happy because that just isn't the way life works. Not all of the happiness I DO have comes from this part of my life, but inasmuch as it does, I am quite blissfully happy. We have our ups and downs though like anyone would. We have been through deaths, accidents, illnesses, financial, and other stresses and crises. The test isn't whether we can keep a dopey grin on our faces through it all, but whether we come out better or worse for the wear. We keep coming out better. That is what makes this good and allows us to have fun when the sun is shining. [:)] lovingpet

I am a switch and at times, it is hard to determine which side I will be on any days in the future. Today I am topping from the bottom, making sure Bo got me something to eat while on a 3 day room cleaning spree (daughter's room). I got most of everything done except for vacuuming all the cheetos and nuts from the edges of the carpet and furniture. I also accidentally ate his ice cream, so I am letting him have mine in exchange (both of us are Ben and Jerry's fans). The living room is clean, just have to put up the laundry that he did earlier (including her blanket and sheets). After we get the mattress back on the lower bunk bed, I will grab the febreeze and make it smell better. I don't cook when I am down here so I eat what he has fixed up. Usually it is Italian food or something gourmet.

I always have fun no matter when I am serving another by being their demo bottom or at a bar in the back room servicing others. I also have fun when I am on the prowl for a cute cub to mutually tease and torment to satisfy my pleasure. You didn't think I just arbitrarily took on this label of man whore yanno?

I'm enjoying life pretty well, my bdsm life is kind of falling flat on its face since I next to never get play time with my sweetie, but other things are incredibly happy and well balanced.

Yes, I'm happy. Happiness comes from within. If people are all dark and depressed, it probably has little to do with WIITWD, and mostly to do with how they handle their thought processes, and the choices they make. Happiness is a decision I make. I give it to myself. So, if people aren't happy, then they're either just not letting themselves be happy, or they're not setting up the conditions properly that would allow it.
