Email Intros -- getting a response

Status: offline 		before the internet, a guy or gal introducing themselves to a member of the opposite sex was called a 'come-on line' or a 'pick-up line'.

i don't know what we call that now in the new internet world beyond an email introduction that will get you a response.

i would like to know what works for a good 'come-on email'?  what has consistently gotten you a response? 

is it something like, "Hey slave, you got a nice ass for beating?"

or "Strip, Kneel, Suck"

or "I am a compassionate Dom ........."

or .......................

Status: offline 		If you want to be taken seriously, none of them should work.  An honest, detailed message that shows who you really are is best.  It shows that you put some time and effort into it instead of sending the same tired pick-up line to fifty people.

You have got to be kidding

Anyone who uses those kind of 'pick-ups' in their emails,  deserves every 'fuck off' response that comes their way.

Status: offline 		All get a response from me..positive or negative..But the ones who get more than a couple of words are the ones that I feel have put in some thought to their e-mail, something that pertains to me the person ,and that could be anywhere from one line to many...be well..tempting

Status: offline 		i am actually serious about trying to see what kind of intro emails have worked for guys/gals -- Dominants/submissives, etc.

i threw those out there off the top of my head just to throw a little humor on the posting.   besides ... i have gotten some humorous ones similar to those and they did make me laugh and respond.

i enjoy the intro ones too that talk a little bit about the guy but if the intro is initially way too long then i get bored.  some of the intro stuff is best saved until after a conversation has been started.

my favorite 'come-on line' ... the guy was an art major, we were in college and he was walking me to class.  he asked if i would pose for him.  i said "no way, i know what those models DONT wear."  he says, "oh, you have me all wrong.  i am a sculptor.  i am into hands on."

some come-on lines have become classics like "what is your sign?"

wouldn't it be fun to identify the classic "email come-on"?

so please, share.  what tickled your fancy?

Status: offline 		girl thinks it is nice when a Dom takes the time to write her and say "your  profile was well worded and well written, thank you for writing such a detailed profile as so many don't, they only write a haphazard profile leaving One to think they didn't put thought into it."

girl almost fell over when the Dom who wrote that sent it to her, as she is not used to Doms or Men for that matter complimenting her.

it takes a lot for girl to respond to a Dom, if they write one liners she will respond but only to say "please tell girl more about You." at which point they disappear or they tell girl more about themselves.

Status: offline 		Actually, it's very rare that I ever respond to any mail unless it is someone that I know, or unless it is someone whom I have seen from posting on the boards. Heck, half the time I forget to even check my mail, it means so little to me. However, there are rare occassions that I will answer one from a stranger, and only when they actually say something that catches my interest. And it could be anything, ranging from a simple hello, to something more intellectual; it depends on the mood that I am in at that particular moment. I always look at the profiles though before I answer anyone.

What a kewl sense of humor you have. good question, I try to read the Profile, mention something from it that she has said is important such as "I am 6' tall and looking fora tall slave. " I may mention I enjoy the local BDSM Group and if she is close ask if she may wish to visit there for a Munch. I try to get it established up front that I am R/T and interested in meeting and not just interested in Cyber, though cyber is fun.

smiles ... you answered wonderfully well.  i am enjoying everyone's response and am hoping at the same time that i revive everyone's sense of humor and bring smiles to their faces.  a smile is like a ray of sunshine and brightens the world around us.

you think those examples were BAD ... you should have seen the unedited versions.  would love to see more 'outrageous come-on email examples' plus the straight forward reality answers that we know are going to work.

I don't know, I've never tried an e-mail pick up.  The thought of cruising profiles to meet someone is totally foreign to me.  I'll catch someone in a chat room, perhaps swap messages on the bulletin boards, I can see how they express themselves to others, get an idea about their sense of humor, how seriously they take themselves.  THEN and only then will I bother to check out their profile.  Then I might progress to an e-mail if what I read further intrigues me.

And the message sent will be genuine, thoughtful, hopefully funny, and is generally well responded to.  Each is unique, tailored to the perceptions I have gleaned from previous contacts in chat, the boards, and finally the profile.

And I am SOOooo not looking for anyone it's not funny.

Status: offline 		I don't think that there is really any art to writing an opening letter. It is usually a lose-lose situation. If you don't write enough, you get ignored, but if you write too much you get accused of sending a form letter. I usually comment on some aspect of their profile, especially if it is well written. If they are interested, or even just polite, they will write back.
 
As for the " please tell me more about yourself " responses, I tend to write back asking what they would like to know. That normally leads to no response, but oh well. My profile says a lot as it is. If they want more information, they need to be a little more specific in what they ask for. Should I tell them about my job? Should I tell them that I used to have a turtle that would stand on his hind legs and beg for treats? Should I tell them that I have never owned a cell phone? If you can't specify what information you want, you shouldn't expect someone to read your mind to figure out what you want to know.

lmao .... i think i got one of those once myself!!!!  darn, i can't remember what his name was though. but if he is still holding his breath hes got to be purple by now ......  maybe this one will go down in the annals of BDSM come-on email bloopers ......

Status: offline 		I'm not much of a sender in that sense, I usually only reply if someone messages me first. To be honest, I've stopped answering oneliners like that. If you can't be bothered to write me more than a sentence, I'm not going to be bothered to respond. I also found that generally, the oneliners were people who hadn't bothered to read my profile either, and were looking for a submissive. *Rolls eyes a bit* I do answer messages though, that introduce someone to me, ask me about something they read in my profile, and such.

Also, for the obvious messages I get from people who didn't bother to read my profile... *grins* I like to write little sarcastic letters to them that go on my profile... *Not that they'll ever read them* My Love thinks it's hilarious. I think it's comeuppance for the people who spam oneliners to random people without reading profiles.

*looks back up* Eeps, that sounds a bit stuck up... Oops? I'm really not stuck up, I swear! lol!
