As a member of several different yahoo groups, I've found that yahoo groups are one of the most effective ways of getting information that the mainstream media won't tell you. You should always select daily digest which itemizes each topic for that digest, and if you like the topic just click on it. You don't even have to use the back button to go back to the topics, just scroll back up to the topic list. If you don't choose daily digest you will get 50 emails a day. It's completely free but you do need a yahoo account to begin with.

Conservative Principles and Activism Core Beliefs

1) That individual human rights are granted by God. Not by any King, governmental entity, or man. This is asserted in The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, Bill of rights, and other founding historical documents.

2) Government exists primarily to protect and secure the inalienable God-given rights of its citizens. These inalienable rights are best secured by a government that governs the least.

3) The Founding Fathers never intended to separate God from government, or inhibit the right to the free exercise or expression of religion therein, but simply intended to prohibit the establishment of a state religion.

4) The original intent of our Founding Father's Constitution is as valid and binding today as the day it was ratified. The only legal alteration of the Constitution is through the amendment process, not through judicial fiat.

5) Government of the people, for the people, and by the people.

6) Our Constitution was written to govern a moral and religious people and its destruction is sought by those who are neither.

7) The traditional institutions of marriage and family are the foundationand cornerstone of any society. We must oppose any and all attempts to undermine or redefine these institutions in our own society.

8) That the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness applies to all;  including those too weak to speak for or defend themselves: the old and infirm and babies yet to be born.

9) The United States has the moral and legal obligation of protecting our Republic, our freedoms, free trade, and our national interests...as well as opposing Communism, Socialism, or despots that threaten America's freedoms and national interests.

10) Our government must immediately take effective steps in securing our borders from both terrorist threats and the flood of illegal aliens, and against all enemies, foreign and domestic. We must ensure that only those born here or naturalized legally can inherit the right to call themselves U.S. citizens.

11) Our government must use stringent guidelines and screening procedures for all immigrants as it relates to their suitability to enter the country based on: health & communicable diseases,  security, potential to contribute, functional use of the English language, and a practical comprehension of American History, heritage and culture.

12) Our government officials, Federal, State, and Local must clearly understand their role in the public trust, as public servants. As public servants, they serve the public interest as stewards of our public monies, used only for the public good and never for personal or political advantage.

13) The right to bear arms must not be infringed. It is the last resort for the citizens in defending their God given rights, to face and repel tyranny, foreign invasions, insurrections and in the rejection of slavery in any form.

14) The culture of the United States is its Revolutionary roots, its Constitution and traditional values. To destroy or weaken the Constitution or our time-tested values is to destroy or weaken the United States, its society, and its culture.

15) The freedom of religious expressions must equal the rights given to a free press, free speech, the freedom of peaceful assembly, and the right to bear arms.

16) Our national security and interests demands that we maintain a world class military power and intelligence gathering capability that are second to none.

17) The United States must follow Teddy Roosevelt's philosophy of
"speak softly and carry a big stick" in our dealings with other nations. We must possess the unyielding resolve and perseverance required in perpetual defense and promotion of our Constitutional principles.

18) As a nation we must say what we mean and mean what we say. Our word must be our bond and trusted to the benefit of our allies and to the dismay of our enemies.

19) The government must not spend in excess of our Treasury, except during war or national emergencies, or as otherwise approved by the people. Too many public servants spend tax money as a mark of professional "achievement", as an avenue to power, influence, and thus corruption.

It's pretty much your view, then, that conservatism opposes the First Amendment. What a belligerent agenda you have!

Lovely sentiments throughout.

As an atheist, am I excluded from attending your lynchings?

No, and that's where parts of the rest of your list falls into wishful thinking and fantasy.

Other parts of it merely state the obvious.

I was wondering that, too.

Don't worry brainy as a card carrying liberal I will fight the neo-cons to my last breath to prevent a rope from stretching that pretty neck(of course I would expect you to be suitably appreciative of these efforts )

agnes, I think we could infiltrate these yahoos. I still remember enough of what I learned about the Bible in Sunday School growing up that I believe I could pass for a credible Christian. We'd have to study guns and militia ideology. If we try to fake that they'll be on to us in short order. We could get a crash course by just reading some of the archives here on CM. I have a pocket copy of the Constitution provided by the Cato Institute. It was a gift from a Dom I met here who had me under consideration for awhile until I memorized it. He released me about 6 months ago, but I kept the booklet. That kinda street cred would get us past the mods. You in?

I'm still wondering just how much of a superior military the neo-cons feel we need. We're already multiples of every other country.

And then they cry "fiscal responsibility." They haven't been fiscally responsible for half a century. It's a running con game.

Somebody (Mike?) said something on a recent thread here that is appropriate - something about ignorance being an excuse to prop up a flawed ideology. I think that's about right.

Not to mention the massive transfer of wealth to the industrial military complex, even making things the Defense Department doesn't want (or need).

Yes, Tim. Ideology has replaced critical thinking for such a large segment of the population. How truly unfortunate.

And they're willing to PAY for it, again and again, while complaining about the economy and the deficit.

Then they repeat the same policies and with the same results.

Nothing short of bankruptcy will convince them--if that.

It's not just defense, Tim. The Tea Party as a constituency does not want to cut entitlements like social security and medicare - except for those who don't deserve them. They also don't want to raise taxes. With defense and entitlements being the largest pieces of the budget pie, it appears these uber-Conservatives want their pie and eat it too. They would never support a candidate who was truly committed to reducing the debt, once they understood what needed to be done to achieve that goal. We all want to reduce the debt, but I can't take these clowns seriously.

I know. They still believe in Reagan's magic money, and their leaders have realized it's a great way to channel money to their wealthy supporters. It's a great trickle-up system.

But facts will never stand up to faith. So around we go.

Amen.

<edited to add: You know they aren't reading this. They are all over in the Tea Party Crashers thread arguing over who is really behind the misspelled signs.>
