Our objection is that in wanting to do something nice we suddenly get convicted, until proven otherwise, of being abusive people - and we have to pay them to prove us innocent and this young lady gets to sit around doing nothing until August when the record should be available. If I was in your position I would tell the agency concerned to go forth and multiply, as this CRB stuff is getting out of hand, and it won't be long before the system is abused, or a previously checked person is caught doing something they shouldn't, as people are people, nowhere does it say because there is no history someone is unlikely to be a threat. For those that refuse to take a CRB test, through issues of privacy, they are coming to be seen as potential criminals because of their unwillingness to let a bunch of beaureacrats examine and judge the applicants life so far.
But, if you decline to take the CRB test to give this young person a future, make sure you publicise the fact, that unwillingness is to do with privacy, not past pecadillos.
