I just checked out my profile i have like 70 things listed as to what i love, i only have about 5 things i live for and about 30 things on my likes list and there are only a coupla things I hate and one thing as a hard limit. Like really, going through those lists, its not hard to end up with bunches of stuff.

[:D] Then there are those who have been in the lifestyle for decades who have learned much and therefore qualify as an expert. Even on the vanilla side, the more of life you live, the more you become an expert at. I myself qualify as an expert motorcycle racer (22 years), an expert medical professional (nurse for 18 years), an expert house keeper/cook (31 years, lol, i started early), an expert gardener/farmer/herbalist (21 years i owned a farm), an expert in the broadsword (19 years of SCA fighting), an expert in all forms of Druidism ( i was raised druid) an reasonably proficient slave (31 years in this lifestyle).

Well, for one thing, checking 'expert' on these profiles does not mean that one is claiming to be an expert, it is the only box one can truthfully check under 'experience' if one has done something more than the 'average' amount....whatever that may be.

Hello There, When I see a Dom with a large list of interests I feel they are more interesting to me. To me it means they don't limit their path to a few things they find hot, but would be willing to explore lots of things to keep it interesting. I too have a large group of interests selected. Does that mean I want to do all of them with everyone I play with? I don't think so. I take it to mean with the right person as my inspiration it would not necessarily be a hard limit for me and I may be willing to explore that with someone. I'm lucky enough to have one of those mulit-faceted and diverse Doms to play with in my local dungeon. I think it's completely hot not to have any idea what he's going to pull out of his bag of tricks that night. For me diversity is a good thing. Suzanne

Sometimes it does have to do with number of years involved in this. I have a long list of interests because there just isn't one thing i like more than the other. I like lots of things. My interets are varied.

does being in and practicing this lifestyle...in as many ways..shapes..and forms as possible for almost 30 years...allow me to... at least consider...most things I do...I'm just a little..hmmm...maby somewhat...oh... just a tiny bit proficient in... all joking aside....most consider themselves to be whatever they want...looking at their ability to either do..or assist...or just watch and learn....tagging a label on this..although it may be the wrong label...gives another a indication as to areas of interest in that person.... I for one have never backed away from learning something new whenever possible...even if that something is a new way for me to make a bow...or sharpen a blade..( guess ropes and edge play are a must for me)... now to go buy some lofers so I don't have to ever tie a lace again...lol Fury

I did narrow it down...some of us actually like all that shit and more. Maybe it is an age thing (Lord knows i am feeling more than old today...too many pints last night [;)]). A long checklisyt might be the sign of an excited newbie, or perhaps just a jaded old roué. or maybe just somebody who is interested in expolring

To give a more complete concept of people interest CM would have to triple the options and include things you are active in now, things you have done in the past, things you want others to do, things …..Ohh well you get the drift.. I guess no one seriously wants to see such a huge list….. For me, I come to CM to firstly enjoy myself, secondly to meet people and perhaps make new friends, and thirdly perhaps to meet some one who is silly enough to want my collar (One chance in eleverty-eleven billion ~ damn hobbit speak is going through my head at the moment). I’ll use a long list to give me options and upgrade it regularly. When some one asks I’ll explain that yes I have expert marked against martial Arts but no I don’t practice any more due to disabilities…. It just gives me additional things I can write to some one about when our interests match…. What never ceases to amaze and amuse me is when people comment about or complain about others who are different and don’t live their lives how others may expect them to….Some folks have such narrow minds and can’t accept that some people are different..
