Is the past all you have? Is that because you can't dare to face the present?

All the law does is allow local enforcement of the federal law, within the constraints of the Constitution of the United States. Arizona law enforcment still has to have reasonable cause to stop someone, and no rights have been thrown out - those who say they have are liars, and that includes the press who report that lie as well as the president who retells it.

Oh, what grandiose hyperbole you spew.

You may not understand much, but here is a little something for you to ponder.

Einstein said, 'Time, as we understand it, does not flow from present to past.'

So, we live in the present, and how did we get here?  The past.  If you ignore the past, now you dont know what direction to aim the gun to shoot, and you just go about willy nilly and rehash idiotic ideas that have already failed 'sorta like decreasing taxes bullshit'.

ENFORCE THE CURRENT LAW.

Is the present all you have, because you are happy to be ignorant?

The law mirrors of the federal law, and even though Obama said it, its a lie that it allows people to be harassed who are just out getting ice cream with their kids.

I don't know if he was lying or just ignorant.

But the fact is everyone who is suspected of committing a crime will be checked for their immigration status, and everyone will be checked not just brown people. They're not targeting Hispanics with this law, or anyone else.

And the fact that the president is out there spreading disinformation about the state of Arizona for political gain is deplorable, he's supposed to be the side of American citizens, and not on the side of foreigners who ignore our federal borders and our laws.

You are the one spreading disinformation.

The Arizona law DOES NOT "mirror" the federal law and I've given you sources to prove that point yet you keep stating it as fact.

The Arizona law not only allows but requires police to check for immigration violations just on that basis.

There is no federal law that comes anywhere close to that, but since you keep repeating this put your money where your mouth is and offer proof.

Which is a far different statement from what you have made earlier in the thread, but still far from accurate.

The Arizona law, as I've said before, tries to dance its way around reasonable suspicion by including the wording but varying from federal law in that they can, using your earlier example, "harass someone just out getting ice cream with their kids".

New poll: Now, even Democrats oppose repealing Arizona's illegal immigrant law

Many Democrats don't like Arizona's new immigration law but are willing to give it a test drive and see how it works.

That's according to a new Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll out Friday showing the majority of Americans with an opinion favor the bill (34-21%). Republicans support the law (51-9%) as do Independents (37-18%) while Democrats largely oppose the measure (35-18%).

That's not too surprising as other polls have shown more Americans are in favor of the bill than against it.

When asked if the Obama administration should try to stop the new Arizona immigration law, or if the administration should wait and see how the law works, Republicans and Independents by large margins want the law left alone.

Interestingly, so do Democrats. And it's not a squeaker either. By a two to one margin (52-26%), Democrats said the law should be left alone to "see how it works." When asked if Arizona was "right to take action by passing its new immigration law and not waiting any longer for the federal government to act," Democrats, Republicans, and Independents all....

...responded that the state was right to take action. GOP respondents were most in favor of Arizona's initiative (77-14%), Independents strongely endorsed the move (72-21%), while it was much closer for Democrats (43-41%).

You'll never be able to make a meaningful comment on anything political until you get over your BDS.

Should they start arresting the employers? Yup.

Will they? Nope.

It would appear that you are in favor of arresting the illegals.
I do not understand why you are in favor of ignoring a felony that would put gazillions in the state coffers and instead be infavor of arresting the illegal alien who has commited a misodomeanor and has no money to pay a fine so he will be incarcerated at taxpayers expense before being deported.
Do something even if it is wrong seems to be your mindset here.

If the cops would do their job and arrest the employers the state would reap tons of money. You do not want that to happen...
What you want is every brown person to be shipped out of the country at taxpayers expense.
You wear your bigotry like you wear that tree you are standing next to.
Why are you defending a law that targets the individual instead of supporting the existing law that would stop the problem at it's source ....the employer?

And it's not just Republicans and Democrats who want our laws enforced us Independants out here are overwhelmingly in favor of it as well!
Where's the Troops? Where's the Beef Mr. Obama?
I think any congressman or senator who is not in favor of enforcing our laws in this area should be willing to stand up and identify themselves so The People know who they are.
November is not that far away!

P.S. you don't win elections without Independants!
Not the people you want to piss off.

Hell, im in favor of arresting the whole damn lot, illegal and employer alike. Deport the illegal, arrest the employer, and be done with the whole mess.

Care to wager on how quickly that will happen?

Live with the reality, Thompson. Fantasy land isnt helping anyone.

I dont recall MLK doing a letter writing campaign or sitting on his ass at home bitching and moaning on a message board.

No matter how you want to twist my words, you know they are true.

Illegals.. send them the hell home.

Employers of illegals... jail em, fine em.

As i said, these things SHOULD happen, but they wont.

Its meaningful to me, Aylee.

Its sort of a shock to the system, isn't it. It says, "This is serious. People are dying, and you are laughing."

I thought it was very powerful.
