Termyn8or -> RE: Personal texting on a work phone? Beware your boss (4/23/2010 1:30:58 AM)

I know different jobs are different. I know people sometimes have to do things. I don't get paid unless I am there. When I am there I actually have higher expectations of myself than the boss, who I actually think is too soft on some matters. The last time my cellphone rang at work I up and said right out "I am going to throw this MF in the lake". Didn't do it but I might someday. It broke my train of thought, interrupted me with personal bulshit that could've waited. I already told people not to call me unless the house was on fire, then had to amend that to don't call me unless MY house is on fire. That actually did happen in 1995. My job is quite mentally intensive and I simply don't care what happens much outside of my duties. A real emergency, well it'll take me X long to get there. It'll cost me up to $150. It may cost my boss alot more on a good day. Sometimes on a bad day I just can't get jack shit done, but I get paid all the same. Other days I can pull in twenty times what I make. The good days and the bad days put together add up to an aggregate ratio which makes me worth keeping around. That is what I was taught is true job security. In fact my ex boss just called AGAIN to see if I have any off time to come work a day or two. I had to turn it down despite the fantastic offer. What time I can work I owe to my current employer. Unfortunately for the world I am not normal. T
