Are masochists usually both?

I know physical masochists get strong endorphin rushes from pain, but is it the same for emotional pain?

Is it possible to turn a physical or emotional masochist into both?

How common are physical or emotional masochists in general?

How likely are physical or emotional masochists to regularly wear all-black?

A huge part of the Art of Dominance is in communicating effectively enough to find things inside of another human being. And not just by talking. But you need to be able to turn off your own inner dialogue of expectations, wants and desires long enough to open the perceptions to this.

Which is why so many subs like a Dominant with at least SOME degree of humility.......since this gives a Top the power to slip inside and look around.

Narcissists are crappy at this.

I've never been clear about what an emotional masochist, in the context of a power exchange relationship, would look like.  Why is this something you would want to cultivate?  What kinds of scenarios are you envisioning?  The past few days here have made me rethink a lot of my preconceived notions of what exactly I am (and massively redo my profile, albeit somewhat clumsily) and at this point I'm kind of at a loss for what a relationship between an emotional sadist and an emotional masochist would look like or what anybody would get out of it.  It's not that I'm not intrigued--I'm just having a hard time drawing the picture in my head.

I crave him hitting me. Punching me. Making me cry from physical pain.
I do not ever crave that from him in any emotional way what so ever.
I would not be happy for long in that kind of relationship.
I need to feel warmth and happiness from him, especially while he's hurting me.

- some could be and some may not be...each is individual.

I know physical masochists get strong endorphin rushes from pain, but is it the same for emotional pain?
- I fall in the physical masochism so for me it's just the endorhin release I seek.

Is it possible to turn a physical or emotional masochist into both?
- I do not know

How common are physical or emotional masochists in general?
- see above

How likely are physical or emotional masochists to regularly wear all-black?
- the choice in clothing colours has no direct bearing on whether one is a physical or emotional masochist.

hi ,
honeslty i dont think that emotional pain can release endorphine,,,
maybe when you know the start of it and the end ,, but otherwise getting it on a * free style* is no good,,,
i would like to hear if someone dont agree with this

Depends on the masochist. I love physical pain, do not deal well with emotional pain.

I know physical masochists get strong endorphin rushes from pain, but is it the same for emotional pain?

Not this physical masochist. Physical pain gives me endorphins. Emotional pain gives me a good reason to find someone else more suited to me.

Is it possible to turn a physical or emotional masochist into both?
In my experience, you can't force anyone to be what they're not.

How common are physical or emotional masochists in general?
Not common at all - in fact, we're pretty sophisticated!

How likely are physical or emotional masochists to regularly wear all-black?
About as likely as all dominants to wear emerald green or all bisexuals to wear pink and blue checks. Daft question, really...

the wearing black question is putting me off - just to clarify - are you being serious or taking the piss.

I know a girl that dresses in all black, and she's a masochist. I asked her. Too fat though.

I'd like to do things to a girl without her wanting me to. When a girl wants you to do it, there isn't much emotion in the girl. When the girl doesn't want you to do it, there is lots of emotion in the girl. I love it, the feeling of a girl's fear and shame.

I am not a narcissist, if that's what you meant to say.

Well, all black is fairly popular at a lot of BDSM events/playspaces, regardless of D/s or BDSM orientation. It certainly isn't the equivalent of hanky code, though! I'm a physical masochist, but not usually an emotional masochist. Getting scared or feeling vulnerable can be hot occasionally, but if it were done all the time, the effect would probably wear off. Degradation and humiliation generally seem kind of boring and not my thing, but in the right circumstances, it might be amusing or hot, if combined with other stuff. If my Master did things to deliberately associate emotional masochism with pleasure, he could probably make me more of an emotional masochist, just as my physical pain tolerance increased over time.

I am a self-proclaimed masochist, I like pink!!!

As for my own leanings, I get absolutely nothing from emotional pain.  Except pain.  Nothing enjoyable, it just hurts me down to the soul, and I do not like it.

As for physical pain, oh hell to the yeah on that one.  As Aileen said.  Yum.

Good luck on finding someone that is either a physical or emotional masochist, and turning them into something that they are not.  I find a very hard time imagining myself gaining anything from any type of emotional pain.  No thanx, can you just punch me in the head now?

If he hurts me emotionally, i have a very hard time submitting to him hurting me physically.
