I wonder if any of the CMers who visit these forums work for the SEC. Some of you post alot during the day. I think it's time for an investigation...

Marini, I think we should start a list. Who do we have among our usual suspects who might have a govt job, but who always complains about how much govt employees make because they are trying to deflect suspicion from themselves, knows absolutely nothing about finance and markets, but could probably fake it with a bunch of links to internet articles about Wall Street they managed to find while taking a break from the porn, and believes the govt should stay out of Wall Street's business to justify their porn addiction at tax payers expense? I bet the fucker who's responsible for the economic collapse is one or two of our own...

I wouldn't be surprised at all.
In fact, several regular posters come to mind.

Sanity -> RE: SEC Staffers Watch Porn as Economy Collapsed (4/23/2010 11:32:18 AM)

This is why we need to hire more government regulators, right? Because the regulators we have are watching porn instead of doing their jobs?  [:D]

And then, this is priceless. Barney Frank (video) - its all the Republicans' fault:

And Frank is right, this is nothing more than a Republican witch hunt to deflect attention away from the Goldman-Sachs case and legislation to tighten financial regulations.

These investigations by the SEC inspector general have been going on since 2007.  If Grassley and Issa were so concerned about these ethics violations then why did they wait until now to make them a public issue?

Let's also keep in mind that the 33 cases represent less than 1% of the SEC's 3,500 employees.

Hardly a number that would have prevented proper oversight of the frauds that occurred had the government not had policies that allowed the financial markets and the major players like Goldman-Sachs to self-regulate.  A policy Alan Greenspan is on record as saying he promoted before realizing what a mistake it was.

LadyEllen -> RE: SEC Staffers Watch Porn as Economy Collapsed (4/23/2010 1:44:06 PM)

Just to clear up any confusion, since I do post during the day - I do not work for the government and nor do I work for Goldman Sachs.

They work for me.

Republicans controlled Congress from 1995-2006 and it was Republican Phil Gramm (R-Texas) who led the fight to kill regulatory legislation.
