Sally, that's a rather different question than the difference between the two. Anyway, I think it's safest to assume you shouldn't call anyone either unless you ask permission, or they request it.

I once dated a girl who told me about a tranny dom she dated for a while. She was totally confused about whether to call this cross dresser Master or Mistress.

She finally settled on "Mattress"

Succi -> RE: Goddess or Mistress (5/5/2010 3:00:47 AM)

Ooooo, Mattress, I might have to steal that o.o

They're just titles as said, I myself am partial to the Japanese honorific -sama (it's so specific to how I look at my relationships). Other pet names that have worked in the past that I enjoyed are Regina, Priestess, and (super specific back-story) Faith.

I like pet names, on both ends, to be unique and specific and important.

But Mattress....I like Mattress, haha.

Goddess.. is a mythical deity

Mistress.. is a woman who is kept

I have never been able to feel a sense of respect for anyone who calls themself Goddess. It is such a self centered term and it seems the majority of the ladies who do like to be referred to as Goddess are anything but one.

Thank you, but it is *NOT* a self-centered term in this case. I am a living, breathing, imperfect but respect-worthy soul on it's journey through life, but I am also Pagan, and the term "Goddess" means a whole lot more to Me than that.
Judging all by the actions and appearances of a foolish playacting few: almost never a good idea.
*Blessed Be*

I felt that way until I met one. Now I understand.[:)]

"Mistress" or "Goddess", or "Here is the Gucci bag I bought for you" will do just FINE.

There are many titles for a female dominant woman. Some prefer to be called bu such names, others do not. Below are listed but a few of these names. Interestingly most of the titles can be traced back to a French origin (Mistress, Madame, Maitresse, Courtesan). Makes one wonder if the French were kinky first?

Mistress
Madame
Maitresse
Goddess
Lady
Belle
Paramour
Courtesan
Scarlet

Mileage will vary. I like in particular Valkyrie
