Tantriqu -> new trojan: saved by bad spelling (4/24/2010 5:46:46 PM)

Dear CO'ers: There's a trojan/malware going around: I think I picked it up on Youtube searching for a vanilla video: it snuggles into your Vista systems tray and tries to convince you start your virus scan: however the warning has two misspellings! Didn't stop to memorise, but at least one 'you computer', not 'your'. Even though I didn't allow it to start, it still infected, and created a series of faux warnings and error messages, pop-ups and outlook hijacking [to its own fake 'av.ex' anti-virus software, viagra and porn sites], and most alarmingly blocked my own viral scans and said there were no system backups since last year [which I do religiously] but fortunately OK with a Run command, running my twue security programs which detected it in a lot of paths, but did a system restore juuuust in case. Then read about it on malware sites. Man, the things sociopaths come up with. Bahstids. Hope this helps prevent some infections. Bonne chance, and let's be careful out there! T.
