Brain -> Where Are the Tea Party Protests About Wall Street? (4/25/2010 12:50:07 AM)

Of course the Baggers are not protesting Wallstreet. What good would racist posters of Obama do for them there?

Where Are the Tea Party Protests About Wall Street?

If you remember, the Tea Parties were originally formed to protest the bailouts. They were so mad at the Wall Street bankers who destroyed the economy and then took our hard earned money for their efforts.

Now, when it’s time to fight the financial companies, where are they? Nowhere to be found.

Why? Because FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity didn’t organize any bus rides to Wall Street. They didn’t manufacture the outrage they did in protecting the health care companies. They used the Tea Party protestors for their own purposes and then left them on the side of the road, only to be picked up again when they need to protect another company or industry.

Hey dumb ass, what good would it do to protest on Wall Street? The bankers don't make the laws giving them bail out after bail out.

They earn their money the old fashioned way...They buy Congress.

In that case, though, his point is a good one.

You're the one who said it.

As for protesting--we could say this about any protest.

Yeah, but elected people have a tendency to pay attention to angry mob's at the gates, because they want to maintain their positions...At least the smart one's do anyways.

I agree that protesting the Wall Street bankers will have zero influence on them. The heads of the big banks and brokerage houses really could care less about what the "man in the street" feels. However, all of the outrage that was vented on Health Care should be tripled and vented at the financial community and at the pathetic lame-ass sop of "reform" they've put together. This bill should die in flames and legislation that truly ensures that the sort of chicanery that led to the crash doesn't happen again should be passed.

What we need is the 21st century equivalent of the Glass-Steagall Act. Until we get it, the protestors shouldn't leave the capitol alone.

It was George Bush that helped Wall Street. They are protesting Obama because he is black.

I have been unable to discern any meaningful difference between the way President Obama has treated Wall Street and the way that President Bush has treated Wall Street.

They are not protesting Wall Street because they really don't care about the bail out.
But according to your logic they should be protesting Wall Street for buying Congress.

Yes, I agree with you and it's a real concern. Bill Moyers had a very good show about this subject today. Next week is his last show, he is 76 years old.

Maybe if you read this you might want to protest Wall Street yourself?

Profiling CEOs and Their Sociopathic Paychecks

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that "Executives and other highly compensated employees now receive more than one-third of all pay in the US... Highly paid employees received nearly $2.1 trillion of the $6.4 trillion in total US pay in 2007, the latest figures available."

One of the questions often asked when the subject of CEO pay comes up is, "What could a person such as William McGuire or Lee Raymond (the former CEOs of UnitedHealth and ExxonMobil, respectively) possibly do to justify a $1.7 billion paycheck or a $400 million retirement bonus?" '

Bullshit.  Don't over generalize and state that teapartiers are protesting Obama because he's black.  What a load of crap!  Quite a few teapartiers are protesting the socialist agenda that he's pushing and how he's bent on destroying the economy by having the government taking over every major sector there is.  Know when the last time on this planet the banks, the educational system, the medical system, etc were all run by a socialist party?  I'll give you a hint, ask someone who has a number tattoo'd on their arm and they can tell you.

Exactly, the tea partiers were riled up to protest against the public option, and the so-called "left" was riled up to lobby for "health care reform" -- and we ended up being forced to buy corporate health insurance.  Which was undoubtedly the agenda in the first place.

Next, we can probably expect that the so-called "left" will be riled up to lobby for "immigration reform," and the so-called "right" will be riled up to lobby for more police measures against immigrants -- and we'll end up getting some so-called "compromise" that simply imposes more police measures against the general citizenry.

Yeah, that was the evil bastard's entire motivation to get elected to public office, to destroy the economy and turn us into a socialist state.

Have you heard about the FEMA camps?

You better watch what you say.

You publicly protest their unmitigated avarice and culture of greed.

Protest their turning long term greed into short term greed with the resulting bailout turning them hypocritically into...the richest socialists in the world.

With the "educational system" K-12, parents have the option of sending their children to public or private schools. What's so wrong with healthcare having a public or private option as well? I doubt if all the children of all the tea partiers attend private schools.

Brain, the way you talk you'd think Bush just left office two months ago.
President Obama has been in office for 15 months now. He "owns" what's happened since Jan 20th of 2009.
It's a cop out to say he finished what Bush started.
Obama has surrounded himself with Wall Streeters. His campaign supporters list reads like the Fortune 500.
TARP = keep wealthy people wealthy.
