Fancy being creative?

Go to the David Cameron poster generator and create your own poster.

You can right click on the poster you create, select 'save image as', save it to your hard disk and upload it here.

Just like I did.

Not really. I am from the poor side of town

The continuous demonising of the Conservatives is laughable, given the last 13 years here. New Labour have done nothing for either the working class, or manufacturing. We have become a society of policy by spin.

Basically they all lie about what they say they are going to do.

The only option I have is to look at those collective lies and determine which lies are more appealing.

If I vote Tory and then moan about the injustice of the inheritance tax cut they'll just say: "Yeah but we told you about this." I don't find it an appealing lie and it's quite telling that given the economic situation (where they keep being vague about how they are going to fix it) that they aren't looking at this expensive policy.

At least with labour they are lying in the right direction.

So what would you call a fair inheritance tax. At present it is too low. £1 Million seems a tad high. A fair rate, in my view, would exclude the average houseowner, Say £600,000 From `86 to `97 the threshold trebled. So a pro-rata increase would make my figure slighly low. Still way higher than the paltry rises under New Labour.

It may not be a big financial loss raising it to 1 million but why is this even a priority for them, who in the real world is pushing for it?

If you want to end the cycle of poverty and make each generation work for what they have then you have to devise a system that focuses on inheritance tax and capital gains tax.

How much to enforce it and you can get out of it simply by passing ownership on before you die.

Here he is look.....sounds easy doesn't it.....have you ever heard so many cheap soundbites in such a short space of time.....

Same old Tories.....take everyone for fools....think a few tired old yarns will do the trick.....mind you.......

What a boring/repetitive set of people....same old: "personal responsibility/cut tax/strong defence/family values/cut waste......the situation doesn't matter....same old mantra.....bout time they came up with something different....."the old way of doing things" eh....have these people said anything that wasn't said in 1890 and each and every preceeding decade?

How will this decrease poverty ?  A change to the inheritance tax wont affect it at all. Why should any money someone makes go to the government and not their offspring ?

No we should go further really, it'll be the only way people see that money isn't everything in life.

@polite, well...there are things such as the national minimum wage which some might list among their better achievements
@soh, there are often positive side effects to seemingly unfair tax systems, one of inheritance tax being lowish/having a threshold, is to encourage people to save their money. The less point there is saving it for their kids, the more likely people are to blow it all before they die. Which is all well and good, but some people blow it all before they die in their 60s&70s then unexpectedly live in poverty to 105... And that's a tricky problem to get around. As for how high the threshold should be.....perhaps pegging it to 20x the national medium earnings would be a good idea (roughly 22k,=ITT~440k). Some system like that which adjusted itself with society anyways.
