I was raised a Mormon. I DENOUNCE MORMONISM!!!!!!!!

As a child I was beaten by my parents because I did not want to go to church and I did not "EVEVN THEN" agree with their beliefs.

Mormon are the church of Jesus Christ. WHY ARE MORMON"S BAPTIZING DEAD JEWS??????????

Mutilating the penises of children and babies is child abuse and WRONG!!!

Mormons are supposed to promote family values. The only thing Mormons really support is a massive breeding program and child abuse!

You are painting all Mormons with the same brush. I know some awesome Mormons. I know a few Christians i would not spit on if they were on fire. One of my best buds is an Atheist and she is dating a Catholic man who is wonderful.

There are good and bad people in every faith and religion.

Allah forbid that the principles of the golden rule are evil. "Do unto others as you would have done unto you."

You claim to denounce Mormonism based upon your own parent's actions which do not fall into line ANY mormon principle. You are associating your parents' failings with the religion and they are not one and the same.

And attacking circumcision? Please. That is not mutilation, that is good preventive medicine.

And what does it matter if they baptize dead jews (in proxy mind you, they don't actually baptize dead people literally)? If you believe it does nothing, then it does nothing and doesn't hurt anybody.

There was so much drivel in your post Bella that I have to come back and address this issue. What Mormonism principle promotes child abuse?

All people have a religion, even if they don't define it as such. Even if you don't believe anything happens when you die and that no other forces beyond what we can see exist (although scientists will disagree with you, dark matter exists and we cannot see it, so SOMETHING exists beyond our senses.) Religion is simply a collective set of beliefs that are often associated with a code of behavior. All people align to some sort of set of beliefs and code of behaviors. Even if it is survival of the fittest.

Mormons, Christians, Jews, and Muslims follow the teachings of Abraham.

Abraham lied to his son on the way to the alter.

Abraham was prepared to Sacrifice (kill) his son for Pharaoh( and fame and fortune and land for eternity).....a self proclaimed God on his man made mountain.

Pharoah was wise and decided to let Abraham keep his son.....but sacrifice his penis skin as a MARK of SLAVERY.

After all.....why fully sacrifice an idiot when you can have him as a slave for eternity.

I would rather kill my self than let someone mutilate my child.

Umm that is laughable. Your cirumcision has a ton of health benefits.

http://www.circinfo.net/health-benefits-and-reviews.html

• Decrease in physical problems involving a tight foreskin [Ohjimi et al., 1995].

• Lower incidence of inflammation of the head of the penis [Escala & Rickwood, 1989; Fakjian et al., 1990; Edwards, 1996].

• Reduced urinary tract infections.

• Fewer problems with erections, especially at puberty.

• Decrease in certain sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as HIV, HPV, genital herpes, syphilis and other micro-organisms in men and their partner(s).

• Almost complete elimination of invasive penile cancer.

• Decrease in urological problems generally.

That is not child abuse. That is preventive medicine.

Not to mention that circumcision is not a religious principle for Mormons. The "law of circumcision" was replaced with Christ's new law, so it is not required by the church. None of the mosaic law rules still apply.

I'd even go so far to say that NOT circumsizing your child IS child abuse. You purposefully withhold a very simple surgery with such fantastic health benefits??! That sounds like abuse to me.

Bella...i think your hat is too tight.

I personally do not believe in organized religion for myself, but i will never ever denounce those who feel differently....i do not assume i have the right to judge others.

i also do not assume i have the right to judge others. Just because i don't believe in a certain religion, it doesn't mean all it's followers are bad people. As long as they don't shove it in my face and they are good people in general, i don't care what they believe spiritually. It's not my business to judge.

In my opinion, this thread is turning into a rant about religion that actually belongs in the Politics and Religion forum. Mods, what do you think?

Trivia: They are not Mormons, they are Latter Day Saints. Mormon was a nickname given to them.

The Elders and members are very judgemental people, but then again most of your religions are.

It's funny how they all can recite sins, but they leave out one: Judging others. God is our only judge. I guess that one doesn't count, because they are the ones doing it.  The whole religious thing is amazing to me.

You did a good thing by breaking free. I don't understand though that if you are not part of the religion anymore why you havn't requested that they not post on your facebook. Or if you can;t do that change it's name and only let your friends know it;s really you.

Cutting a penis delivers a strong message to the congregation. .....CONFORM!!!!!!!!! RED /BLOOD /DANGER

Cutting babies is not good health care. More than 70% of American males are strapped down and cut without anesthetic.

Dogs and cats recieve more humane treatment than American male babies.

American underage males get NO CHOICE >>>> THEY HAVE NO HUMAN RIGHTS.

IF your Human rights have been violated you should petition the attorney general.

MOSES said, "FREE MY PEOPLE".

Jesus said, "Let him who has ears, hear".

Jim Morrison said, "You can not petition the lord with prayer".

And i'm not even Christian, but i do know the Bible says "'Judgment is Mine' saith the Lord" and "Judge not, lest ye be judged." i have, however, when i was a nursing student, seen(not done) circumcisions & i believe it's wrong to strap babies down and cut into their genitals without anesthesia.

Very judgemental? Latterday Saints are the easiest going folks I know of. Some of the folks in this thread are very judgemental!

And the "Elders"? What does that even mean? That's an office of the younger adult men. It is probably the least judgemental of any of the groups of folks in the church.

Mormons have stricter guidelines for most things in life it is true, but they believe in free agency before anything else. That is why the percentage of LDS members serving in the military is higher than their percentage of the general population. They want to protect your right to choose.

Besides that, everyone judges. You have to do judge people, situations and everything else in life. You judge whether or not to hire someone, or to have them babysit your kids, or whether or not to trust them driving your car. The thing you should not do... is condemn. Leave that up to God (or whatever higher being you may or may not believe in.) LDS religion supports that.

Back at Bella, once again circumcision is not a Mormon/LDS religious tenant. There are no religious guidelines to circumcize your child put out by the church. It is a good idea and I'm very glad that my parents chose to have my circumcized. While I can see your point that the child doesn't get a choice, but I've never ever heard anyone say "Man I wish my parents hadn't gotten rid of that pesky flap of skin that would cause me constant hygenical problems." If any males regret their parents' medical decisions to circumcize them, then they are a microscopic percentage of the circumcized males. If they even exist.

It is much safer to do it as a newborn child than later, thus I appluad parents who make a conscience good medical decision to do a favor for their child when they are newborn.

I have no idea if anesthesia was used in my circumcision, I don't remember it. But once again, I'm very glad my parents did so. Anesthesia is certainly available for it, not sure if it is necessary, but once again I don't remember my procedure.

This reminds me of the South Park episode where they try to hide Kyle's little brother to keep from having his peepee cut off. A lot of irrational fears and screaming (and caps and exclamation points) where there is much ado about nothing.

The only thing that allows evil to exist is when good men that do NOTHING!

There are very many good men that have had their genitals mutilated.

PITY! They are worthless to me. If a man is too lame to stand up for his own human rights then I DON"T WANT HIM.

My fore fathers wrote the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constition.

If your dick is cut, then you belong to Abraham, ewe are a slave.

DUH???? This is a BDSM site. Anybody that wants Abraham for a father should be prepared to take it up the ass.

I do not "do nothing", I strongly support circumcision as a strong benefactor of the process. So thus I speak up whenever looney birds start talking about slavery to some dude from thousands of years ago when a very acceptable medical practice (in fact it is the most common surgery for men in the world) is lambasted from the depths of some insane girl.

I'm still trying to figure out this insult "ewe are a slave". A sheep is a slave? Or are you talking about the ethnic group in Ghana, Benin and Togo?

And while I haven't read the Constitution or Declaration recently, I'm pretty sure that circumcision isn't mentioned in either one. I could be mistaken though, I have been known to be "sloppy" sometimes and miss the hidden passages about circumcision.

Did you forget to take your medicine?

This is not a thread about circumcision.  Please start one if you wish to discuss it.  It's time to get this thread back on topic.
