Very judgemental? Latterday Saints are the easiest going folks I know of. Some of the folks in this thread are very judgemental! And the "Elders"? What does that even mean? That's an office of the younger adult men. It is probably the least judgemental of any of the groups of folks in the church. Mormons have stricter guidelines for most things in life it is true, but they believe in free agency before anything else. That is why the percentage of LDS members serving in the military is higher than their percentage of the general population. They want to protect your right to choose. Besides that, everyone judges. You have to do judge people, situations and everything else in life. You judge whether or not to hire someone, or to have them babysit your kids, or whether or not to trust them driving your car. The thing you should not do... is condemn. Leave that up to God (or whatever higher being you may or may not believe in.) LDS religion supports that. Back at Bella, once again circumcision is not a Mormon/LDS religious tenant. There are no religious guidelines to circumcize your child put out by the church. It is a good idea and I'm very glad that my parents chose to have my circumcized. While I can see your point that the child doesn't get a choice, but I've never ever heard anyone say "Man I wish my parents hadn't gotten rid of that pesky flap of skin that would cause me constant hygenical problems." If any males regret their parents' medical decisions to circumcize them, then they are a microscopic percentage of the circumcized males. If they even exist. It is much safer to do it as a newborn child than later, thus I appluad parents who make a conscience good medical decision to do a favor for their child when they are newborn. I have no idea if anesthesia was used in my circumcision, I don't remember it. But once again, I'm very glad my parents did so. Anesthesia is certainly available for it, not sure if it is necessary, but once again I don't remember my procedure.
