My last 3 cats - all dearly departed - were Bill, Sluggo, and Squeaker.
Bill was orange and completely insane for his 1st few years at which point he was abducted by aliens and replaced by an identical-looking robotic cat.
Sluggo was originally named Allison but when we took her to the vet to be fixed it turned she was a he. So he became Sluggo - basically a slug with fur.
Squeaker got her name becasue that was the only sound she ever made - not a real "meow" - just a squeaky noise. She was also a complete failure as a cat: she would come when called (like a dog!) and, in fact, all you had to do was look at her from across the room and she would come running into your lap. She was a total whore-cat!
As for your little ball of fur, Fluffy comes to mind, especially because it's usually a name you give a dog ;)
In fact, my previous dog, a 175lb malamute, was named Fluffy because he was so incredibly fluffy!
