Well, the process can be sped along with proper use of duct tape. It can be used to actually repair, or simply to humiliate the item into proper function.

Unfortunately our society has moved away from repairing our devices.
Personally I know of no good small appliance repair shops locally.
The repair trade ought to be brought back.
