The UN recieves funding from nations based on the size of their economy, and how developed they are & a few other things...with the most developed nations funding the most.
The US pays 22% of the UNs budget, in one way...this is a lot, in another way...not as much per person as some other developed nations (Japan Germany UK & France are big payers per capita).

How many times in the history of the U.N. has the U.S. paid its dues on time or at all?
I understand that we are about a half BILLION short.

I think it's reasonable to say that the UN uses USAican tax money.

Not unless we actually pay our bills.
So my question still stands
How is this a waste of our "tax money"?

Take the UN out of NYC and build "affordable housing" on that spot.
That alone would do more good than the UN has ever
done for the world.

Funny, I was just yesterday in Youtube watching Iranian police smacking women around and arresting them for what I don't know.
How much longer are the American People going to put up with this country being in the "U.N.?"

They're arresting women there for the crime of having suntans now, could be that.

Means prison time, too, its a serious offense.

I am sorry I was unclear...I meant what philosophical and pragmatic reasons why we are in the U.N.
It was a design by Roosevelt and Churchill not Truman.

Really?

The United Nations' success story | The San Diego Union-Tribune

The problem is that we tend to remember failures and discount success. We remember Rwanda and forget successful operations in El Salvador, Mozambique and Nambia.

We focus on Kosovo, where the U.N. mission met stiff resistance, and forget Cyprus, where the United Nations has preserved the peace since 1964.

We remember the disaster in Somalia and forget the mission in Kashmir, where the "blue hats" of the United Nations have played a role in keeping the peace between the nuclear powers of India and Pakistan since 1949.

Today, there are 18 peacekeeping missions in the world with more requests for new missions than the United Nations can handle. If U.N. peacekeeping has failed, why does this demand exist?

Just a waste of our tax money, is it?

Then why do we even have a United Nations Commission on Womens Rights if its just going to be a mockery.

puppy chow for the media....

think of it as puppy chow to feed the masses and all that illogic will begin to fall in place.

People invariably make the same mistake.   They have this misguided conception all those names mean government.

Its the people who are misguided and without knowledge.
