"How can someone sworn to loyalty to the US constitution and all that,........." Easy one. Though I don't agree. First of all an oath means nothing to most people. I mean really, nothing. What's more the reason that THEY took the oath could be construed to mean that they are entrusted to judge for themselves what those duties are. Even the religious type, Cristians believe that they will be forgiven for just about anything, so nothing really matters. Jews have a different mechanism known as the Kol Nidre, a prayer once a year which supposedly absolves them of breaking an oath. This started in France IIRC as they were rounded up and forced to accept Chritianity or face death. Then they could appear to accept Christ while actually still holding their own faith, in secret. But at least they didn't get executed. Most of the rest are just money grubbing bastards to whom an oath means nothing. For them, there is always AIPAC. All they have to do is keep the status quo up and running and either big oil, big pharma or the banks will take care of them after their term. Things might not be so bad in the UK, but I have no idea why. Perhaps the English truly are slightly better people than we. Perhaps they hold some value in their word, and might be just a bit less materialistic. Perhaps. Or maybe there is more oversight. Real's thread (named wrong I think) enumerated some cases in which the supreme court here ruled that prosecutors can use false evidence, subborn perjury and all sorts of neat things. They have also ruled that the media does not have to tell the truth. This is official and every word of it true. So what type of people would you think would participate in such a system ? It is rotten to the core. We are talking about the US government here. Just two facts, easily findable but put together the right way can be illustative. The US government feeds about 400 million people in other countries. Yet they still pay our farmers not to grow food to prop up the price. Why would they care ? It's not their money. We build and operate and maitain military bases all over the world. Had one in Germany since the end of WW2 approximately. Do they have one here ? Do they have one in merry ole England ? If not maybe that's why they only have to work four days a week and enjoy a much better economy than we. And it still falls on the people. There are people, self made rich people with the means to make a real change here, to get better candidates who will not blindly perpetuate the status quo, but such people are not stupid. As such they see the government as just too big to tackle, so they mind their own business and live their lives. There is so much, it is a wonder that there is not more suicide going on. Those who are ignorant get caught up in the machine, those who can see, see very little hope for change. It is a fight every day just to remain sane. And you don't know the half of it. Even the ignorant cannot ignore it all, just what percentage of US citizens are on at least one antidepressant ? I think if I ever see a shrink and start talking politics, they're going to want some blood to synthesize a new, super powerful drug. Because I really do know too much and I know that nothing I can do will change it. T
