WyrdRich -> Question on Masochism #2 (4/6/2006 4:10:01 PM)

     When I'm priveliged to observe the scenes of others, I've noticed that the subs are usually passive and exhausted after heavy play, needing a good long stretch of compassionate after-care.

    For me it is exactly the opposite.  I am wound up, energetic and ready to take on the world and that high can last for days.  It also kicks me completely into Dom mode.

     How unusual is this?

After a scene, I am always wound up and full of energy which can last anywhere from a couple hours to a couple days. It all depends on the people involved.

Refer back to Masochism 1
You my friend are a rare bird and need to have a bird tied to your jock strap after you switch for the umpteenth time....that'll teach you to be careful what you wish for!
Pecker's can be pecked by big roosters...with the right amount of feed glued on.....How you like Masochism now?

Peace, Kevin

I'm really wound up too, high as hell even, but the subs are almost always exhausted, in a good way.

For me, it really depends on what the scene is.  If needles are used, I am up... really up and jazzed to the hilt.  If we are talking canes, I am totally spent and just want to curl up in a ball and go to sleep.  But, like others have said before, we all react differently.  Just my 2 cents.

It depends on whether or not I've gone into subspace. If I have, aftercare is gratefully appreciated. Hugs, cuddles, coos and kisses are always nice for that time. If I haven't, then I'm generally wired and feeling like Superwoman. Also, the length of the scene can have something to do with it as well. Two hour scenes aren't going to take much out of me.. but 6 hour scenes can get me a bit on the pooped side. So, type of scene, length of scene and whether or not the pain was sufficient to put me in subspace all have a direct impact on what's going on physically and emotionally with me.

I'm not a switch so I can't really comment on it knocking you into Dom mode.
For me it varies greatly. As BitaTruble pointed out, the longer the scene the more draining though that;s true for the Dom also. The type of play, my emotions before we begin, the intensity, all have an impact on how I react. Once the endorphines are flowing, I always feel extremely happy and high, but sometimes it makes me giddy and full of energy and other times I'm happy to lay sleepily basking in it.
I'd say the compassionate aftercare is still relevant for me even if I'm energised, to stop me getting too wound up and of course to communicate about the scene and learn what works well for us.

Adrenaline versus endorphins?

One is for flight vs. fight, and one is relaxing.  Which is affecting you?

Best,

If power was an illusion, wasn't weakness necessarily one also?
