It is exactly what will happen here after the Fall elections. Obama will be forced to work with a new republican majority.

If so, I hope they have better ideas than the last time they fucked it up.

And if they do, they sure aren't talking about them.

servant

Brown isnt stepping down. Seems neither won a clear majority. Unless i heard wrong, they now both sit, the one with the most votes gets the house. [:D]

UK election results : conservatives 306, labour 258, liberal democrats 57, other 28...

Lucylastic -> RE: So much for the Tea Party revolution (5/7/2010 9:21:13 AM)

they need 326 seats to be a majority and they cannot get 326

Official returns Friday showed it would be impossible for any one party to get a majority of seats.

By 1630 GMT (12.30 p.m E.T.) Friday, with the results of 649 of the 650 seats announced, the Conservatives were leading the vote count with 306. Labour had 258 seats and the Liberal Democrats held 57.

It's very unusual for no party to get an absolute majority of seats in the Commons. The last time it happened, in 1974, voters were back at the polls within months.

I remember it well Tazzy, my mum was a liberal fanatic and we had to help her out doing party stuff...canvass..packing fliers, delivery, party meetings, fundraising, catering, its how I started my long term dislike for politicians, no matter their policies.

Say, what do you think of corporations that run up debt or carry large debt levels?  Think airlines.  Corporations can operate at a loss for years.  What would you advocate in that case?

What happens when people run up their debt??? Well they can live an illusionary life for a while, but eventually reality hits and the creditors start demanding their money. Well that's the same thing the government is doing. They have created this illusionary economy, but in reality half of us would have to sell our houses just to pay for the people who don't even own homes, in order to pay off the national debt. Technically, half the population should be living in tepees.
