Well...the next big step in our relationship is about to occur. Shore is coming over to dinner tonight to meet my two daughters.
I'm just a tad nervous.
They came up with a list of 46 questions for him to answer. My favorite is "what is your favorite fairy tale?"
So far these two little girls have handled my divorce, a new part time home, and learning that their mom and dad are dating amazingly well.
Any words of advice to make this meeting go smoothly?

Check to see if they have anything in the Q&A about how often he pisses on you, strike it from the list, it is not dinner conversation, yanno?

Aileen, it is what it is, everyone is gonna do fine, take a fucking chill pill, dudette.

I am a master, and therefore you STFU because you know I am right, tubgirl.

Icecream will help, don't get real formal, try the calm and natural thing, see where it goes.

Ron

Christ your cute when you're all human.

I am guessing Shore is probably a decent guy.

Everything is gonna be fine

Hi Aileen,
Have something for folks to do. That way, there is a way to deflect, and it helps kids communicate in dificult situations. A game, some art, something interactive that they can do with their hands is good... even if it's helping you cook.

Have a great time!

Best,
sunshine

aileen, there is so much to do.

You can get out some coloring books, sing songs, watch Shrek and pretend he didn't ruin their lives.

Make a nice relaxed atmosphere, without any further agenda and let it flow, if you stage manage this motherfucker, or overthink it,  T, it is gonna go upside the fuck down on ya, GA ROUN TEE.

One word - Seaside!

Go out and have fun together. Let them see you interact, laugh, smile, and have fun.

Don't try to force anything. Try not to focus on them. The difficult one to pull off is, try not to be nervous.

Let them see you happy, they will be happy for you.

Good luck!

Aileen, your rugrats will take their cue from you.  So try not to act nervous.  Your house, your man, your kids.  You're in charge.

The big question is, how do you want your kids to see you and him?  Affectionate, kidding each other around, or relaxed and informal?

Ditto

Of course saying don't be nervous is a lot easier than doing it.  But the less you can be the better.  The kids will pick up on it and wonder why.

Do something the kids are comfortable with and let him meld into it.

I think this is getting to be a bigger deal than it is.

The kids know ABOUT him. They just need to hang out and get to know him.

Along the lines of something to do...a make your own taco or fajita bar and/or a sundae bar can be fun.

They do know about him. They see his things all around the home...his shoes, his clothes, his glasses and contact lens stuff. They've seen pictures of him, talked to him on the phone and have spent four days at his shore house. They've even been in his physical company without even knowing it. He came to a few of their soccer games.
All they need to do is officially meet him. I'm just nervous. It's a huge step.

I had to do this recently and mine are 18 and over...it went well. I've never introduced my boys before to anyone I've dated in the last 4 years that I've been single so it was a big deal to me.

I can't think of anything new to add really...the others all had good ideas. Try to relax yourself, the kids will see that you're nervous as was mentioned and the game idea or some type of activity to make the focus instead of him is really a great idea too. I recently got new game called Apples to Apples (a word game)- my son and his girlfriend brought it over recently and the three of us played it. It says ages 12 and up but as long as the girls are reading and have a good basic vocabulary it'll work- not sure how old they are. It's funny and that's always good for breaking the ice. I'd never met my son's girlfriend before the night that we got together to play this game and  it was the perfect activity for us to do. Otherwise cards will do or whatever else you have around the house.

I can't think of anything else but if I do I'll post again. Good luck

Apples to Apples

I LOVE THAT FUCKIN GAME.   My daughter (then about 8 or 9) WOW, the way she developed her conclusions to which were the best.............fascinating and brilliant.

Your daughters this first time just want to have a brief look at him. I guess that you are not a slave but a submissive? If so, your daughters have first call on your attention.

When they brought it over I wasn't enthralled because I'm not a game player but I was quickly won over...it can be hilarious. I won twice because i went mostly for humor instead of reality and the 'judge' couldn't help but go for my analogy every time- I'm sure it was a situation much like your daughter lol. My 28 year old son and I are still texting each other with phrases that we made up that night and taunting each other...nicely of course. I went out and purchased my own game last week to keep on hand for whenever I may need it.

Rule....I'm a collared and owned slave. He and I are not protocol oriented. It's not our thing. We interact like a vanilla couple.
I came from a family that was male dominated. The women cooked, cleaned, cleared the table....
For them to see anything like that would not raise an eyebrow.

What the kids need always comes first.  Please notice I did say  "NEED" not "WANT".
