Things That Make This Mother's Day Special

1.  Getting to sleep in until 11:00am.
2.  Daddy keeping Little Master Jack quiet until exactly 10:59am.
3.  Not having to cook anything all day but coffee.
4.  Claiming the last cinnamon roll without apology.
5.  Not hearing ANYONE in the house yell "Hey, who ate the last cinnamon roll!"
6.  Roses
7.  Helping Daddy with the gifts for HIS mother.
8.  Helping Jack make his Memaw a personalized mug for Mother's Day.
9.  Having all 3 of my children together for exactly 1 hr on Mother's Day(that's a real feat when you have 2 teenagers!)
10.  Remembering  Little Master Jack was BORN on Mother's Day.

What makes Mothers day special is Mothers.
Wish I still had mine.

My mom is still around but my father is not.  I know "exactly" what your talking about.  I miss my dad every day.  He passed on 6 years ago.

My mother passed 3 days before thanksgiving. This day was always about her. Its a strange day for me. Her absence is deeply felt. Especially since we had a Bar Mitzvah in the family. She had wanted to be there so badly.

I'm sorry for your losses. I lost my father a year ago, but my mother is still around. It's a bit strange because she lives so far away, but we make the most of it. Good luck to you all :)

My family is not normal. She gets a phone call but I try to make it a point to make her laugh. That's worth more to her than a bunch of flowers. I couldn't get her any gifts anyway, she already has everything, and I mean everything. Really I could think of a few things, but she doesn't want them. Like a boat. We all know it is a hole in the water into which you throw money.

Actually she does get something this year. She needs some brickwork done on the one house, I am paying the labor. So with materials she is getting about a two grand job done for like a hundred bucks. The last "formal" gift in our family was when my Dad bought my sinister a rototiller. So while we do somewhat observe holidays, it's not like normal people. One of the better things lately is that we actually had Christmas dinner at my house last year - for the first time ever.

We celebrate our kids as they celebrate us, but at the same time it really hurts that our parents are not here. A pretty bittersweet holiday.

This pretty much sums up my relationships with both my parents...neither will probably get a call, let alone a card or gift.

I am so glad I have such a great relationship with my kids. Just being their mother is gift enough for me. Almost every day is my 'Happy Mother's Day!'... We all do little, and big, things for one another all the time.

I went to the cemetary to visit with my mother.  I took flowers to her, and my father, since today is his birthday.  He would have been 81.

We usually just talk on the phone and then I take her out to some restaurant.  We can't this year, because she took a bus to visit my sister in Texas.  They went to church together then ate out at some place like Posadas or Olive Garden.

Several friends wished me happy Mother's Day, my son, however, is kind of oblivious to holidays.  Except for Christmas, lol.

To me, this is just a day to be grateful for motherhood; I give thanks that my mother is still alive and I can enjoy her company, and I'm also thankful that I was blessed with a child of my own.  I'd had a lot of miscarriages, so I've never taken having him for granted...he was my miracle child.
