Honestly at the risk of chiming into this idiotic debate that ALWAYS degenerates into name calling and foolishness, I personally am blind to race. I can think of nothing that I find more unintelligent than someone that believes that any entire class of people acts in any way that is predefined by their skin color. I've met both jackasses and incredible people from all walks of life, races and sexes.

If I was looking at the purely physical.... but I have been with tall dutch and short asians and others of various races. Theres alot more tochemistry than just the purely phsical. At least for me.

Being attracted to one particular type doesn't make you a bigot. Hating everyone who isn't just like you does. And that's totally different then only wanting to have sex with people who turn you on.

However, as my post DOES state...clearly there are some on this thread that feel people of a certain race ACT in a paticular manner, which is ridiculous and incredibly unintelligent. Is it a preference or fetish? At what point does admiration of certain characteristics (mocha skin, jet-black hair, a petite stature, a porcelain complexion) become a full-blown fetish? And further, can you fetishize your own race? I believe it is difficult to differentiate between a fetish and characteristic. The only rule that sticks seems to be making blanket statements about an entire race of people (i.e. all white women are wild in bed) as an indicator of a fetish.So when I hear a comment like “Asian girls are passive,” it does give me some pause. Hearing a statement like that kind of makes me think that the speaker already has a preconceived notion of what “Asian” is – and it probably excluding many women of Asain ethnicity. On the other hand, sometimes certain characteristics (which may or may not be common to a certain race or ethnicity) can be highly coveted by individuals. Darker skin is not common to all races. Neither is long, straight, jet black hair or blue eyes. So, it would stand to reason that people who find certain characteristics attractive would start seeking out individuals with those characteristics – which may lead to dating along racial lines. The idea of fetishizing one’s own race is another charged idea. Growing up, I was taught that “white is beautiful” and that edict guided most of my ideas about attractiveness and appeal until I became an older teen. Many of my friends still cite same race preferences in dating (though most of us actively dabble other places.) Why is it that a preference for certain characteristics – like locs, a thicker/thinner body type, skin tone – are more acceptable with your own racial group? Is it fetishizing if a dark-skinned black male only dates light-skinned black women? Is it fetishizing if my Korean friends express a preference for Korean men only? Or Korean men and white men only? Myself I find men with dark skin and brown eyes very attractive. I personally love the contrast when our bodies lay next to each other, I find it very erotic. Hmmm…preference or fetish?

I can't speak for other ethnic groups, but I'm well aware that men of color that exclusively date fairer-skinned women of a similar background are openly denounced. The idea being that they prefer someone who appears more Caucasian and is at odds with those of a darker hue. I'm of the opinion that he should choose whatever appeals, even if that selection leaves some out of the running. There's a fine line between appeasing others and being true to yourself. ~porcelaine

No matter how good looking a woman is, somewhere there is somebody who is tired of her. I have dated all races and creeds. At the end of the day. I really prefer sopmeone who isn't a dumbass. The longer you know someone you like, the better looking they become.

this is complex issue. Some black men want white women because in the past they could be tortured, castrated, and lynched or burned alive for having relations with a white women. As late as the 1950's black men were made to get off the sidewalk if white women passed or they could end up being beaten by men in white sheets or lynched. For that reason some black men view being dom over a white woman as an expression of their power and manhood. Also, it is natural to want what others tell you on any level is bad for you. So the more black women signal that black men should not want white women the more some black men will want white women. The same holds for white women. If their father tells them that the worst thing they could do is go with a black man they will start to form sexual fantasies around that taboo and some will want to explore it. Also, blacks although you would not believe it looking at t.v. or the media (the way blacks are depicted) as a group are conservative and tend to be more religious, including many black women. For example, most white women would not take offense if you asked them if they were bi but many black woman would react with anger if asked the same question. The truth is just as white America has stereotypes about blacks that they are more sexual, and that black men have bigger cocks etc., blacks have stereotypes about white. One is that white women are kinky with fewer sexual limits. Other ethnic groups also view white society this way such as Asian immigrants or people from the Middle East. Another part to this is just simple escape. It is easier to get into the zone if your partner does not resemble your dear mom or dad. For example if you grew up being told as a black man that you need to respect black women or women in general it would be really hard to smack or spank a woman the closer she looks like the women you revered like mom or sister. Many black men were raised only by mom or very close to their mothers so this could be huge issue. With all ethnic groups attraction to those outside of the groups seems to be associated with a type of freedom they can not get by being with one of their own group, the same goes with whites who want black men or Asians etc. Freedom from all the traditions you were expected to love but have grown stale with time.
