Simon Huges fought his case and Jaqui Smith eventually him asylum. The second case was that of a woman, Pegah Emambaksh, who was first detained and set to be deported but eventually granted asylum The one thing people need to remember when reading such cases, is the extremely high number of asylum seekers falsely claiming they face death, if deported. The soldier mentioned above had no problems while he was in the Army, and didnt hesitate to sign up, so its no wonder the authorities were somewhat dubious of his claim. Just for the record I dont know of anyone who was returned home from the UK, where the authorities knew for certain they would be executed.
