SweetNika -> Help please! (5/14/2010 2:50:15 PM)

After coming home today I realized that there were nats around my animal cages. The cages where cleaned this morning and the bedding changed. There is not standing water or fruit in their cages. I don't know what to do. I have NEVER had this problem before with them (guinee pig, ferret, and chinchilla). I am not sure if it is due to the humidity here or what any adivice ?

Mixing a half cup of vinegar and a tablespoon of Dawn dish detergent attracts the gnats.. They will feed on the mixture and die, or drown. Apple cider vinegar and baking soda works also. Be careful with this one. Vinegar and baking soda react and foam up, so make your mixture slowly. Good old bugspray works too. They are attracted to wet/humid places such as an over watered plant and rottening food, that would equal most of the things in most peoples kitchen garbage.

They seem to be attracked to them plus I put up some old fashioned fly paper. Hopefully it resolves the problem.
