lilinbhg -> help with collars (5/16/2010 1:03:48 AM)

I have a little bit of a problem my online sub owns 2 collars one that is soft and that he can wear a lot and the other is leather that irritates his skin when he wears it and it is uncomfortable but both Me and my sub really like the collar .  Is there a cheep way to fix this problem, by fixing the collar or is there something that he can wear under it to stop the irritation, please help Me and my wonderful sub evan.

Is it the rough texture of the collar that causes the irritation, or does he have an allergy to the material? Leather can be stretched and made softer. Allergies are harder, if not impossible, to fix on the other hand.

Put a lining in it.

line it with a piece of garment leather. Everything I make, is lined with garment leather for hte part that goes against the skin. Just go to a leather store, buy a small piece and glue it to the inside of the collar.
Also would be nice if these things had bevelled edges. I'm not suggesting you buy a beveller, but if you know someone who does leather work perhaps they could bevel it for you.

YOU are the DOMME.
he is the sub.
The collar is uncomfortable...Isn't PAIN the operative word here.
Who is in charge?

I had this problem with a pair of cuffs. At the suggestion of a Dom friend, I used velcro to add felt liners. The velcro held the liners in, and allowed them to be removed and washed (stale sweat will cause irritation against the skin). It worked wonderfully, and lead to a custom cuff design that includes removable liners.

Yeah, a ring of red, irritated skin around a sub's neck really indicates that his Domme is in charge. Goes over pretty well with vanilla bosses and family members, too [8|][8|][8|]

Is it bad that crafty competency gets me hot and bothered? [:D]

I used to get a rash from a leather watch-strap. I found that it disappeared after I spread some ordinary UHU, Bostik or similar type of glue on the back of it - it acted as a barrier against the leather.
