Stones of the Abyss and My Heart
I stand on the edge of the abyss My toes curled upon the edge. My eyes they fill with moisture I hold my heart o’er the void My shoulders heave, my fingers open My heart drops into the emptiness. I hold my breath as I wait to hear the breaking of the heart upon the stone below how many times can I come to the edge how many times can my heart be broken The tide comes in I can hear the waves lap against the broken pieces. I back away from the edge, The rim of the abyss is crumbling. My heart will heal. I will move on. I am made of stronger stuff
