KITTYLECTRO -> 3! 5! 0! 1! 2! 5! GO! / Ian Curtis (15 July 1956 – 18 May 1980) (5/18/2010 9:01:43 AM)

On this day in 1980, Ian Curtis took his own life the day before his band Joy Division was scheduled to begin their first American tour.

Ian Curtis and Joy Division are considered one of the pioneers of the "Post-Punk" sound and countless bands have cited Joy Division's music as a major influence and inspiration.

Joy Division's 'Licht Und Blindheit' 7" record was limited to only 1578 copies when it was released in 1980. Collectors now pay $1000 USD or more for this record.

The remaining members of Joy Division went on to become the popular band 'New Order'.

Ian Curtis' voice gives me goose pimples. Even when he was alive, he sounded like he was from beyond.

May he RIP.
