Oh man, I'd forgotten how annoying it is to have a land line. I have to have mine, because it is part of my alarm system, and I answer it because sometimes my boys callme on that line. BUT, most of the time the calls I get are cold calls from Telemarketers. UGH! Very annoying. Although I try to be polite to them, since they are just trying to make a living like anyone else.

Anyway, most of my working career I worked from 7 am - 7pm, 7 days a week, when I wasn't working 7pm until 7 am. Scheduling meals definitely wasn't done to satisfy anyone's 'expectation' of the right time to eat dinner. It was done to meet the family's needs and work around everyone's scehdules. When I wasn't working, there was always football, soccer, baseball, church or boyscout meetings to schedule around. Not everyone has a 9 to 5 job, or are home at 'standard' times to eat dinner by 5 every night.

I'm surprised YOU don't realize this, Kevin. After all, YOU are at work experience at 7:30 pm. Definitely not 9 to 5 hours.

Ladies
i was at work experience.

I think that you mean, "I had an experience at work."

Sorry to hear that.  Sometimes work sucks, but it is always nice to be able to pay the bills.

thats my job.

Yeah, I figured that out when you said that you in your job you did that.

As I mentioned, paying the bills is the goal sometimes.

i called a Lady at 7.30pm this evening and

Frankly, that seems late for telemarketing.  But I am not all that aware of the hours they expect on that type of thing nowdays.

While I have talked on the phone before while cooking, it is not always the easiest thing to do.

At 7.30pm in the evening i ask You?

You ask us what?

Is this not unacceptably late.

I suppose it could be.  Say, if her dinner guests had arrived much earlier than that.  But as far as cooking that late?  Naw.

Should dinner not be cooked at 5pm latest 6pm in evening.

I cannot think of any reason why it should be cooked at that time.  Besides, it would make a great deal of difference depending on what was being made.

What?  I thought that G*d was outside of time.

But no seriously is it acceptable to be cooking dinner this late.

Why wouldn't be?  You might pick up a history book and look at the times that folks have tended to eat throughout history.  I will give you the hint that much of it had to do with the seasons and the available light from the sun.

I am still wondering why 7:30 is too late to cook dinner.

Ummm.... Aylee? Kevvie doesn't have a job. He 'works' for free, hoping they will decide to start paying him. That's what he meant by 'work experience'.

Oh, and I just finished dinner, kevvie. It's 8PM here, so send the little box police around to cite me.

People can cook dinner any time they feel like it. And your right it's not popular, but you seem to be into humiliation so you might like it.

There are only two possible explanations for this thread:

1. You are trolling shamelessly for some kind of reaction, or;

2. You are an idiot.

That is all :-) .

What happened to

3. All of the above

Actually, I'm pretty confident it's healthier to eat earlier.

It's also healthier to eat more vegetables (and fruit) and less meat, to drink water consistently, to go to bed before 12:00 (some say even earlier, 11:00) and wake up in the morning.

Regular exercise is also advisable.

It's somewhat ridiculous that (as far as I saw) none of the other posts addresses these points. Not everything is a 'lifestyle choice', including and especially thinking reasonably.

Also, fried food does not cure cancer, even if it comes in a pink bucket.

I'm with LaT. What time someone chooses to prepare and eat a meal, in their own home and according to their own life's scheduling requirements, is no one else's concern, period, end of story.

Look, I know the OP is a jerk... but this response is a joke.

End of what story? End of communication in any meaningful sense, that story?

Honestly, like having views (sometimes scientific) on preferable (healthy) daily habits somehow impedes upon your sacred personal space.

Wimmins should be in the kitchen 24/7.  Except when they're in the bedroom.  7:30 is a part of that.

Actually it does.  Your views assume that all people are on the same scheduale.  Not everyone works a 9 to 5 job.  Eating earlier may be well and good but the term "earlier" is subjective.  Perhaps the lady in question works 10 pm to 7 am.  In that case an 8 pm dinner time seems very reasonable.

And YES, social stigma due to the time one chooses to cook and eat is an impedement on my sacred personal space.

So "silence".. you think there might be some point in further communication concerning whether or not it's acceptable to have anything to say about what someone else does or does not do in their own home, do you? Not that I owe any explanation, but it was the particular subject as well as everyone's history with the OP that brought the response, not that I am not a huge fan of communication, and do in fact insist upon it with the other 99.999999% of subjects.
BTW.. you're welcome for the laugh, honey.

(imho) people who work late hours and rudly inttruppt others in thier lives after they get off a hard days work are complete asses. to call some one at 7:30 at night? get a different job! you call me at that time and my kids are going down for bed or my neices or nephews or I am enjoying some alone time? fuck that!

in relation to the phone calling - not the cooking issue - I dislike when my phone rings after 7 pm.  My spouse has a co-worker who knows my young children well, yet when she needs a ride to work the next day, or something taken in for her, she doesn't phone until 9:30. WTF?  She thinks the phone won't wake the kids up????

Many people these days eat dinner around 8 or so, especially if you live in the city.

Here in our house we usually eat dinner around 7 on a regular basis.

Yes me too. I don't even eat until 8 p.m. usually. I don't get people that eat at 5 on the dot, that is kind of well 1950's maybe?

My owner gets off work at 8pm and arrives home between 8:30 and 9pm.

I usually start cooking dinner at about 6:30 to 7pm, depending on the complexity of what I am cooking so that supper is ready when he walks in the door.

People have different work schedules and as such they usually have to adapt. I don't believe there is a "wrong" time to cook dinner.

Since we don't go to bed until the wee hours, a late dinner is perfectly appropriate health-wise also. :)

Well wishes,

Cav's ally

Holl, just out of interest have you ever driven a taxi?

To the OP - I was brought up to eat our meals whenever my dad came home from work if it wasn't going to be past our bedtime so that we could eat as a family.

These days I regularly eat after 8pm

Well its a true shame that Women these days are working till 7pm. The idea that Women have jobs in this economy is just well SHOCKING. Do Women not know that their primary job is to cook dinner at 5pm. i think its unhealthy to have dinner after 5pm. my mam makes me dinner every day between 3 and 5 pm. Oh Ladies it s only me, im only here for the CRAIC, i hope that i can deduce from my tone that i am actually pulling Your leg. But i like someone had to spill the beans on dinner otherwise we would all end up like hot boiled potatoes fishing for any excuse not to work. All i can say is the feedback has been great so far, everyone has steaked their claim very well. There are no cauliflowers out there thats for sure

Not quite as shocking as someone thinking it's acceptable to unleash you on the general public via an office.
