it looks like im in the soup on this one laughs. i know cold calling is a nasty job but someone has to do it or business will close down. Can i issue a rallying call to people who have lots of money now to start spending otherwise we will remain in economic inertia

DesFIP -> RE: Do you think it is unacceptably late to be cooking dinner at 7.30 in the evening? (5/19/2010 5:08:00 AM)

Last night dinner did not get cooked till past 9 PM due to car problems.
As far as whether she really was cooking or just said that to get the op to hang up is something we will never know.

Honey you do realize that most of us have already been at work for an hour or more by 9am?

And no Ward, you didn't miss the bacon. Fresh strawberries, banana, plain yogurt with a sprinkle of raw walnuts. Girlish figure, healthy arteries and all that nonsense.

Kevin...I would LOVE to have your time...as quite frankly on many occassions I don't have time to cook dinner until 10pm due to long days at work or at uni, which then at times lead me to not really have dinner at all and just snacking unhealthy junk food instead...dinner before 7.30??? thats a very rare exception for me as most of the time i work anyway until 9 or 10pm or work nightshifts...gosh...dinner around 5 or 6....on a regular basis??? sounds to me like in a previous life, that's how long it feels to be ago...

wednesdays and thursdays mornings that sounds fine to me :o) there I am on my night shift which finishes at 7:15am [:)]

Though downside is that usually I don't have much time left for breakfast[8|]

DomImus -> RE: Do you think it is unacceptably late to be cooking dinner at 7.30 in the evening? (5/19/2010 7:05:07 AM)

I cook dinner at 7:30 sometimes and at times even later than that. I work at night and sleep during the day. For me it is not late at all.  Dinner is basically my breakfast meal even though I rarely have traditional breakfast fare. Thank God for caller ID and no call lists. The state and federal no call lists work quite well. Beyond that I only answer calls from callers I know or am expecting a call from. I know it's just a job for you (the OP) and you are just trying to earn a living but you are invading peoples' privacy in the process and you and your cold calling brethren deserve every ounce of grief and shit heaped upon you.

Years ago before the advent of no call lists when I was in the mood and a cold caller called trying to sell something I have a few times sat and listened enthusiastically to their whole schpeil and then set them down to get my credit card only to leave the phone on the coffee table and go about my business. I came back ten minutes later one time to find that I could still hear them on the other end waiting.

"Most workplaces"? Meaning, where you are, or everywhere? Remember, the larger percentage of respondants on this thread are in America..
