Yeah clapton is a god of emotional songs in varying degrees, he's actually aged well too which is unusual.

Another one is Lindisfarne's 'Run For Home'. I'm terrible with farewells and saying goodbye and this to me is a sad song.

Anything sung by Mariah Carey or Celine Dion can induce a state of depression and melancholy in me, Mariah Carey singing causes me emotional distress and can make me miserable.

"Scott and Jamie" by Fred Small and "White Squall" by Stan Rogers. They're not that common, but I can rarely get through either of them without crying.

This should be a reminder to tie a woman's hands together before she gets into your car.

If left to her own devices she will undoubtedly want to listen to some sort of sappy crud.. Then she will have the nerve to start singing and crying to the drivel.

Love your sensitivity dude. Are you aware that we don't really go looking for the sad stuff? We just ... you know respond. We get all dominated by the lyrics.

Now see, for me, it's not the song per se. I had heard Fields of Gold 1000 xs by Sting and it didn't bring me to tears. Same with Hallelujah. It was the voice and emotion of the artist that " hit " me. I know Susan Boyle did it for many people. They probably heard that song hundreds of times too, there was just something about that performance.

Any hooo, I am enjoying reading and listening to these songs. Music, for me, is universal. And you can kinda get a little insight into people from what music moves them, makes them laugh, makes them dance or tap their toes
