Fellow -> Crossing Canada US border (5/20/2010 10:39:02 AM)

Here is an  interesting and educational video how some "suspects" may get into difficulties:

It has mostly to do with ignorance of some individuals and false belief that they are free.
They would have avoided all the trouble if they had just followed the simple rule crossing the border: answer only the question and do not add anything else.

This vid has been so hyped.

everyone knows you dont get an attitude with boarder crossing guys.

I can only stand to see a few minutes of it.  Did I have trouble at the boarder?  You betcha.  But I knew better then to get mouthy.   So I was free to go after due time.

I am from Canada. I have only good experiences crossing into US. I have been always treated in very professional and polite way. About two years ago I crossed the border using a passport that had expiration date 18 years ago. There was a long interview but they did let me in. My friends were surprised and laughed at it.

Fellow- everyone I know has been "hassled" by the boarder.

I guess I am trying not to fixate on the not nice things in the world.   I was held for a few hours- but their requests were all reasonable.  I was in my 20s and this was the 80s.  So I had that bad azz outlook on life.  Looking back- they could have been severe on me.   Had I gotten an attitude they might have- well they would have. Luckily- I knew better.  This was all before 9-11.  It is easy getting out of the US.  getting in tho is abit harder.

I am sorry if it sounds like I am picking on you.   I don't mean it that way.

Dumb-ass. Keep your mouth shut and do what they say, and it all goes smoothly. Simple. I've gone through US Customs over 50 times and only had a couple minor problems. I had to dump a bottle of Kahlua in Tijuana. Had my Benz searched in Niagara Falls, and had some bags searched in Vancouver airport over some carrots. Had to give up a beautiful apple at the Vancouver/US border too.

PA. It's not hard at all to get into the US. Just ask the 12 million illegals here from Mexico. You just have to enter from the South and not the North.

I always tell them I have a trunk full of plants. They seem to really enjoy that.

So far I haven't had hassles at any borders...(compared to my brother who gets regular checked as he has very red eyes...but always had them, already as a kid, has nothing to do with drugs) but I remember as a kid when we went to france every year in april as a daytrip to BBQ in the forest (my family, my brothers godfather with his family and my godfather with his family) they pulled every time my godfather out...did not matter where he drove (first, middle or last of us), for whatever reason they always pulled out him. Whilst it kept us amused it got him rather p***** off....

These days that border isn't in use anymore with the fact that the borders are gone within Europe....makes life a tad bit easier (though brings other risks with it in return [&o])

The US is notorious for this.  You almost have to humor the system.   Sure you can argue- but at what cost?

The traveler might have been more direct to the questions.
