The nice thing is that Mr Paul seems to think that restaurants or businesses should have the right to turn away anyone that they don't want to serve.

It's crazy how them more the tea baggers talk the more they expose their disconnect with social issues...Is this a coincidence? It seems to be an all too common of a theme.

Restaurants have that right now, as long as it doesnt violate any federal discrimination laws.

But Rand Paul thinks we shouldn't have those federal, or state or local, discrimination laws.

If I understand him correctly, he does support the Civil Rights Act in cases of businesses, companies, etc that recieve Federal funding. He is in support of private businesses being allowed to operate privately. And as a Libertarian, I am in agreement with him.

I've been turned away from resturants and clubs in Provincetown, Ma. < predominantly gay town > for being straight. I am perfectly OK with that. It's their business and if they want to cater to one section of the population it's their perogative, IMO.

The tea party isn't a party, it's a movement.

Actually some of the most racist organizations in America are the NAACP, La Raza, and LULAC. The reason being is that they promote the cause of only one race, not the cause of all Americans. Even the Congressional black caucus wouldn't allow White members to join. As far as immigration goes, it's actually racist to expect special exclusion from our immigration laws based on your ethnic heritage or country of origin.

Did anybody see that interview Janet Jackson did where she talked about how she was into coffee enemas? I suppose that would work with tea as well...

housesub4you -> RE: Tea Party same as all the other parties (5/21/2010 9:39:10 AM)

Well, who says deny based only on race, hell we can have Christian only bars, Jewish only gas stations, there are so many ways that we can turn people away, why stop at race,

Let's go back 150 -60 years, hell only white men can own land, women cannot vote, white only schools, private is private so the hell with equal rights,

Gee I wonder why the GOP is not boasting more about the guy the Teabaggers got on the ballot

Gee

No, that is not the way we want to go. And call me naive, but I seriously doubt there will be a whole bunch of folks opening these types of businesses. I suspect that a " Clan Cafe " wouldn't get much business outside their own. We have the African American Woman Business Owners Association and other association for individual races/cultures. No, I guess their busnesses don't prohibit other races/cultures from entering, but isn't it just a little discrimanatory ? What if a non < fill in the race/culture > opens a business in a largely predoninant are of < fill in another race/culture > isn't the local assosciation of the predominant race/culture discriminating against the other area businessman on account of race/culture ?

I guess I am not looking at the " race " aspect of it. I'm looking at the private business owner's right to hire whom they choose. I look at a place like Hooters. Are they not discrimanatory ? Why can't a chunky girl with small boobs work there ? Or a Men's only bar ? Or a " University Club " type resturant, where you must belong to the University faculty or guest of them.

I know my veiw is not popular, so be it. I am not encouraging or supporting  forbidding any racial/cultural group from entrance into a business.

And people say the right wing is full of hate spewers. What is it about a tax protest movement -- and that is what we are talking about here, that 's why it was named after the Boston Tea Party -- that inspires people to say libertarians are elitist and tax protesters are racist? Is it racist just to disagree with Obama about something just because he's black? OK, what if I think we should get the frack out of Iraq? Is that racist too, just because he hasn't gotten us out of there? Why is it considered racist to want the government to stop picking the pockets of the average working joe in order to line the pockets of rich fat cat Wall Street bankers, who are, by the way, mostly white men? Don't you get it that the Libertarians and the Socialist Party are saying exactly the same thing about taxes going to to fund rich bankers and laws that force people to buy rich company's products (the health care bill-- which the Socialist Party is against).

I'm pretty confused.

I thought Obama was a socialist.

You teabaggers really need to get your "frackin" message straight.

Owner59 -> RE: Tea Party same as all the other parties (5/22/2010 6:56:39 AM)

Actually, they`re not a party.

Or "grass roots" or libertarian or non-aligned.They use those names as a cover.

They are the extreme, reactionary part of the right wing. They are the bigots, the christo-fascists,the fundies, the gun brandishers, the anti-abortion zealots, the separatists, the neo-cons,the hypocrites who for eight years threw treasure and lives down a black hole and hoping to start endless wars but now are "concerned" about burdening future generations. They are the paranoids, the conspiracy theorists, the Glen Beck fans, the Rand Paul fans, the folks who forgot about bin-laden,the alternate reality/revisionists and rainy-day patriots.

They are 99 and 44/100 hundreds middle to upper-middle class whites, who mostly have health insurance, have retirements and live fairly comfortable lives. That part of the population that didn`t lose their job or house or after losing them, is dumb enough to be convinced that Obama is to blame. These are the screamers who wouldn`t let anyone speak at the town-halls.The pathetic (meant in the kind way)old ladies who were duped into thinking Obama was an Arab.

It`s Dick Armey,it`s corporations and corporate funding, corporate lobbyists and their GOP minions,it`s biased and fake media outlets, like FuxsNews.....all come together

The question folks should be asking,is why are they trying to hide who they are?

Why can`t they debate the merits without pretending to be someone else?

Owner59....you are the Rachel Maddow of CM.  I hope you take it as a compliment because its supposed to be.  I like the way you think.  [sm=applause.gif]

flcouple2009 -> RE: Tea Party same as all the other parties (5/22/2010 3:42:08 PM)

Everyone I personally know who is a tea party cheerleader is not a racist,   they are a "FUCKING RACIST".  They are racist, homophobic, xenophobic , angry middle aged white people who would love to see the 1950's make a come back.

I spent too much time in some of these peoples homes whether by the misfortune of knowing them or working in the homes.  The things they say in private are so incredibly vile and disgusting.  It's all grins and winks out in public but in private it's unbelievable the things that are said.

You can stamp your feet and deny it all you want but that is the seedy underbelly of the tea party.  Scream and moan about it all you want.  That doesn't change a thing.

So advocacy isn't possible, it's automatically racist?

That's a pretty sweeping take.

They are taking the lead from the President. He doesn't answer questions and apparently isn't able to debate the merits of anything without a TelePrompTer - and yet he has his followers and apologists too. Likely to be 9 and 44/100ths entitlement receivers, social engineers, or bureaucrats served by the goals of this administration.

From either polarity the strategy seems to be not to debate or engage and have to back up failed policy with more hollow rhetoric and excuses. Just plow ahead and hope to garner more fools who believe the rhetoric still waiting for 'CHANGE!'.

Again with the tele-prompter.

As if every other President, or for that matter anyone who gives a speech, speaks off the cuff.
