It seems Paul the new front man for the Tea party is all about cutting government spending, except when it pays him.

“Paul’s libertarianism stops where his pocketbook starts.” Frum highlighted a Wall Street Journal story from last week in which Paul said he doesn’t want to cut Medicare payments to doctors like himself, because “[p]hysicians should be allowed to make a comfortable living“:
But on Thursday evening, the ophthalmologist from Bowling Green said there was one thing he would not cut: Medicare physician payments. In fact, Paul — who says 50% of his patients are on Medicare — wants to end cuts to physician payments under a program now in place called the sustained growth rate, or SGR. “Physicians should be allowed to make a comfortable living.
In an interview on FoxNew.com’s Freedom Watch, Paul vowed he would never give up his “tea party values,” which apparently include pushing for self-serving legislation. As the Wonk Room’s Igor Volsky noted, Paul likely already makes a “comfortable living,” as the average salary for an ophthalmologist is $256,320.
Gee and I thought the Tea party was going to be something to change DC, seems keeping their money in their own pockets is the way DC has always worked.  And what happened to them winning everything???

The most important libertarian value has always been elitism (there are simply a few people who are vastly better than the rest of the shit, so the same rules can't possibly apply to any of them), so why is this a surprise?

Well, I suppose you need to be able to read Ayn Rand's work without pissing yourself laughing to get your head around the whole libertarian thang properly, don't you?

oh Moon, my ignorance is telling, I havent read anything by Rand, no desire to....I hadnt even heard of a libertarian until three years ago, I was happy in my little pinko liberal marxist socialistic tree hugging paradise.
Thatcher and Mulroney have been my personal bad guys( I had fantasies about norman tebbit once but that was more of a nightmare/lynching fantasy)
Rand is at the bottom of my reading list, and probably wont get past there, not because I dont want to understand, but I read for pleasure ...

The nice thing is that Mr Paul seems to think that restaurants or businesses should have the right to turn away anyone that they don't want to serve.

It's crazy how them more the tea baggers talk the more they expose their disconnect with social issues...Is this a coincidence? It seems to be an all too common of a theme.

pa....The people don't know shit. They don't know about the explosives in the twin towers. They don't know that their currency is on the verge of collapse. They never realized that Auschwitz was nothing more than a day spa utilized by only the most discerning of jews.

The people are idiots. If they knew what we know the world as we know it would soon cease to exist.

We are the chosen few. We carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. We toil so others may sleep.

we also got rid of Arlen Specter.  IMO - I am not wanting NEOCONs.  But understand this collapse is for real.  blame is on both sides.

Restaurants have that right now, as long as it doesnt violate any federal discrimination laws.

But Rand Paul thinks we shouldn't have those federal, or state or local, discrimination laws.
