Scientist create life from nothing. There is no mystery to life.

They cheated. NPR says they started with Holly's meatloaf.

Holly has created something vile from life. A cross between a brown dried turd and Frankenstein.

this is random stupid.   you remind me of 96.

Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life
At last,I've found you.
Ah! At last I know the secret of it all.
For the longing, seeking, striving, waiting, yearning,
The burning hopes,
The joy and idle tears that fall.

For 'tis love and love alone,
The world is seeking.
And 'tis love and love alone,
That can repay.
'Tis the answer, 'tis the end and all of living,
For it is love alone that rules for aye.

What does that mean?....pa, it's not everyday that man creates life out of nothing.

Pfft... Hardly.

The team of 25 researchers took Mycoplasma capricolum bacteria and completely rewrote its genetic code of more than 1 million base pairs of DNA. The data was sequenced as chemical DNA fragments and sewn together using yeast and E. coli bacteria.

The synthetic genome was transplanted into empty Mycoplasma mycoides bacteria, which were transformed into a new species.

As one commenter to this article said, "This is not the creation of life, but a manipulation of existing life."

Amazing! I never would have thought it possible to grow anything in that meatloaf.....let alone a lifeform.

Holly's meatloaf contains mycoplasma capricolum bacteria, e. coli bacteria, and mycoplasma mycoides bacteria?  [:'(]

It's still a monumental step. Not merely a pfffft.

I pulled a Firm. I wrote a post without knowing virtually any of the details.

I still am pretty sure that they told God to beat it.

It's still a pffft.

If creating life out of other living building blocks is such a monumental scientific achievement, then I deserve loads of recognition.  I have personally created life three different times, as far back as 25 years ago.  And my creations do a hell-of-a-lot more than just survive and reproduce.  [8|]

domiguy -> RE: Man tells God to beat it. (5/20/2010 7:10:25 PM)

pfffft. I doubt any of your creations have done anything as monumental as these scientists.

You have only done the ordinary. It seems to me that a lot of women get pregnant....It is soooo common place that we abort the damn things.

Pffffft. You have done only the mundane. The every day. The commonplace.

Move on people....Nothing to see here.

TheHeretic -> RE: Man tells God to beat it. (5/20/2010 7:11:52 PM)

How about we call it a great human leap of pffft?

domiguy -> RE: Man tells God to beat it. (5/20/2010 7:16:05 PM)

Pffft. Who really cares. So they develop the bacteria that will kill us all. pfffft.

You are pretty much pulling a firm on the regular aintcha?

Yeah they told God to beat it and crop circles are made out of string and boards.

Telling God to beat it is like a silverfish telling me to beat it when I have the tissue all ready to capture and destroy.

Unlike lady bugs that I would capture and release outside.

hehe I said lady bug twice today here on the threads in different contexts, ah whadda day.

domiguy -> RE: Man tells God to beat it. (5/20/2010 8:50:03 PM)

God loves Ladybugs. Do you think that God was happy when he saw his creation? Sometimes when I hear a good song I think whoever wrote it must have felt like God on seeing the first lady bug...A sense of pride and accomplishment.

I sometimes am proud about my dumps. It is probably going to be a "no wiper." Those are my ladybugs. We have to find our ladybugs where they lie.

You have used "ladybug" twice today. You should get some rest, it's been a big day.

Way to go, friendo!!!

ROFL am I the only one that feels the joy of this profound message?

Oh wise one, ignore these none believers and enlighten us with your message of truth.
