"...should have been a cakewalk."

GOP wins House seat in Obama's Hawaii home district

HONOLULU (AP) — Republicans scored a midterm election victory Saturday when Honolulu City Councilman Charles Djou won a Democratic-held House seat in Hawaii in the district where President Obama grew up — the latest triumph for the GOP as it looks to take back control of Congress.

Djou's victory was a blow to Obama and other Democrats who could not rally around a candidate and find away to win a congressional race that should have been a cakewalk. The seat had been held by a Democrat for nearly 20 years and is located where Obama was born and spent most of his childhood.

November is going to be fun.

What I'm finding amusing here is the spin that, 'well, the Democrat vote was split, so it doesn't really mean anything.' Funny how that idea wasn't applied to Bill Clinton's election.

DarkSteven -> RE: GOP wins House seat in Obama's Hawaii home district (5/23/2010 7:53:11 AM)

Well, fair's fair.  The Tea party has been splitting the GOP vote this year.  So this sort of balances things.

Sanity -> RE: GOP wins House seat in Obama's Hawaii home district (5/23/2010 8:00:24 AM)

The Democrats are splintered and disorganized. Obama's campaigning against Bush while some Democrats are campaigning against Obama.

I think a tidal wave is about to hit, and it may be true that a few conservatives will be thrown out by split votes the lions share of losses will be among Dems, hands down.  The Tea Party is moving everything to the right, and throwing RINOS out of the Republican party won't hurt anything.

Here's a little reminder of one of your previous predictions regarding Palin.

McCain's pick is pure genius. The Obama camp is telling all their friends in the media to shut the hell up because they can see what's happening...

If you have all this time to be digging in the archives, RML, shouldn't you be responding to the inquiries placed to you on the Holder thread?

Sanity -> RE: GOP wins House seat in Obama's Hawaii home district (5/23/2010 9:15:18 AM)

Give the link whenever you do that so we can make sure you're not pulling things out of your ass, and so we can tell what the context is.

You're just a troll after all, and nobody with any sense trusts you.

You left out that the vote comes up again in January, and in a heavily Democratic district. With a single candidate, indeed, the result would likely be different.

You're also making up that the idea wasn't applied to Clinton's election. It certainly was.

How the hell would you know what goes through the mind of anyone with any sense? Out of all the completely idiotic things you've vomited out into the forums over the years, this thread is one of the stupidest. The republican got 39% of the vote, the two democrats got 58% between them - and somehow in your mind (or what you refer to as a mind), this proves that a democratic legislative district is rejecting the democrats and turning republican? You're as incapable of simple mathematics as you are of constructing a logical thought. Why didn't you just post this in the "Humor" forum where it belongs?

What is it you want me to respond to?

And I think you should be grateful I didn't bring up all your quotes about the genius of McCain picking Palin and how that was going to clinch his victory.

But yet here you are at it again.

TheHeretic -> RE: GOP wins House seat in Obama's Hawaii home district (5/23/2010 9:33:47 AM)

You think the White House will offer somebody a nice job if they drop out of the race and clear the path for their guy, Muse?

And while Clinton's plurality was certainly discussed in conservative circles, the Dems tried to pretend it was a mandate until they were advised otherwise in '94

Musicmystery -> RE: GOP wins House seat in Obama's Hawaii home district (5/23/2010 9:39:22 AM)

Rich,

The point is that you're labeling as spin what are simply the facts of the matter.

A better attack would have been getting this sorted out before the election.

This thread:

This post in particular:

quote:

Let's refresh, RML. You asserted that asking the AG to state specifically if "radical islam" was a contributing factor in recent terrorist attacks was McCarthyism. You have been challenged to explain that comparison, and you have been advised that your answer will be weighed against President Obama's comments regarding the motivations of the Tea Party folk to see if you are calling him a McCarthyite as well.

And I'm going to remind you of your own statement on that same thread, post #10
quote:

That is still no excuse for not presenting an argument when you are challenged to do so.

Put up or shut up, RML.

LOL, Muse. Spin is ALWAYS the facts of the matter. It's all about which facts are left out, and how important the ones left in are assumed to be.

Troll.

(you don't have to thank me Sanity, just trying to help you out with identifying the trolls, being that I know my own kind)

Somebody want to try to explain to our special ed panda that the thread title and premise is straight out of a USA Today article...  [;)]

No argument there. You just demonstrated it above.
